Also, why is it only the manual transmission that gets the power bump if the changes are from the engine internals...

someone referenced it in this thread, the original post is somewhere on club4ag, but it'll prob take me a while to find it. I do wish skeptics would hear from people like Moto-san who have actually met and talked to Tada-san extensively. Btw Moto is not an automotive journalist or a paid employee, but an enthusiast just like you or i, so you know his info is not marketing hype or spin.

They said additional performance comes from. The gear ratio change not horsepower

The internet is troll powered, true story, necessary evils... You get more bandwidth from gearing changes made to your MY 17 router.

You know, it could've actually been Moto who wrote that information. Doesn't change anything; since he more than likely, as you stated, got it from Tada-san, and wouldn't talk about changes to the car without having concrete information about it.

Been a member of Club4ag since 2003.

I don't think it does and just sounds that way due to some poor English

So:
"On the manual version of the car, additional performance comes from a gear ratio change and a torque increase to 156 lb.-ft, as well as a five-horsepower increase to 205 hp."

Should probably read:
On the manual version of the car, additional performance comes from a gear ratio change. There is also a torque increase to 156 lb.-ft, as well as a five-horsepower increase to 205 hp."

That does nothing to make it more authoritive. In fact it reduces how official it is. Not saying he is wrong for one second just saying it is not official.

What is logical about not discussing the aspects some of us don't like? We should all join hands and sign the song of praise to Toyota for doing things we don't care for because it is their car?

What is this supposed to mean? I really don't understand not calling you out.

2017 Toyota 86 - new name, styling, and more power

This thread is about 30+ pages deep of members expressing their dislikes about the updates, I suppose it can be misconstrued/interpreted as complaining or whining (a lot of it is from the same members).

I'm just happy they didn't update it with considerably more power or I'd be pretty salty.

OK everybody that dislikes any aspect of the face lift just stop talking about it. Apparently we have pissed off the minority and in the spirit of political correctness we can no longer speak on the topic.
