If it went through insurance it will probably be on the vehicle history report. Good luck getting diminished value for a paint scrape though.

I have a friend in ATL that actually does DV claims for luxury and exotic cars... usually when he gets called out for an job, he appraises the car pre-bodyshop, and then post-bodyshop. Then the difference in value is what they draft up to the insurance company for a DV claim. People driving around with $100k+ cars find it worth the time to hire the firm to get the DV claim for them because when you cause $40k damage to a new Porsche, it effects the value just a tad....

If you waited until after you got the car repaired, or you had a very small amount of damage (ie. paint) its probably not worth the hassle to try and go around looking for a DV claim at that point. I'm not saying its impossible, but there are right ways to do things, and insurance companies are sticklers for that.

11K in damage..... They should be cutting you a decent check. Your brand new car had half its worth in repairs.

Yeah, it wasn't a "small" amount of damage lol, 11.5k total damage is well over a third of what the sticker price was

That's lame of state farm ( i use them). When i was hit, the guy had allstate and they provided me with the third party appraiser. Here is their contact info: They do all the dirty work for you. You usually won't have to do anything out of pocket after everything is said and done (you get compensated for their fees usually).

My wife's car (Subaru Legacy) got hit a few years back and we got $2,000 in DV. This was on a relatively minor accident (we were rear-ended, no frame damage). We went to one or two dealers to try to get with and without the accident trade-in values. Also used Autotrader's valuation tool inputting with and without accident criteria. I think at first the insurer was putting the claim at only a few hundred dollars. Definitely worth your time to do something.

Depends - how much of that was labor costs.

I got sideswiped in my Acura TL and it was 12,700 in damages. Almost 4k in labor.
