I'm 42 now and will be 43 by the time I get my down payment together and order my FR-S. I've had a few people make the "mid-life crisis" comment to me and I don't really get it. I've always enjoyed driving and this is the perfect car for that. Besides, I don't have a wife or children. And I have a decent job. So this is pretty much just about me having fun.

I just tell people if it was a mid-life crisis car I would be ordering a Corvette. Which is the prototypical male mid-life crisis auto in the USA.

60 with a silver FRS MT on order (as they say, any day now!). Came from a 2009 Corvette MT, will miss the power but will remind me of my Lotus Europa, MGB, Datsun 280Z, BMW days. I figure we are all good till somewhere around 90 for driving, that means 30 more summers of fun, remember that you young whipper snappers!

48 here, I can not wait to get my hands on one! I've been driving sporty cars or even just plain cars sportily ( not sure that is a word =] ) my whole life, so no crisis here. Just a great car to do the fun things I want to do!

Any mid-lifers (40 YOA+) buying the FR-S/BRZ?!!

Yes. However, since I've been buying/driving exclusively sports cars since graduating from the 72 Nova, I don't see the FR-S as a "mid-life crisis" purchase. More like the logical next step from the 93 MR2.
My mid-life crisis car would probably be something like a Ford Excursion.

Good point. Given my car history, a mid-life crisis for me would be a minivan.

While it is a joke around the office that anyone who turns 50 deserves one, it's more a reward for service to the school: everyone who turned 50 this year has been a department chair, assistant dean, or the person who runs the college (the dean's assistant). We all deserve one. Here is the list of self-rewards to far:

Scion FR-S (me)
Ford Taurus SHO
A motorcycle for racing
(yet to be determined)

It's good to be 50.

soon to be 46

and bringing some fun back to my life. Raven MT. Pay $26000 for something that brings me total satisfaction on a daily basis or have an affair, lose half of everything. I think I will stick with the car as it doesn't talk back and I have 18 beautiful holes to play with on the golf course. Life is good.

Ps. My dad is 69 years old and it is the first time I have brought a car to his place and all he could do was smile from ear to ear and say "that is an awesome car".
