You don't necessarily need to sign up for the SpeedSF challenge to be timed for 86cup. They still count your times during the sessions.

They have the separate speedsf time trial session during lunch, starting you on grid based on best time. Great way to try and beat your PBs without hitting traffic

Sonoma was pretty wet yesterday but that didn't stop some people from testing their skills. Unfortunately there was only one 86Cup participant in the morning, @AyJay. Luck for him though, he got his own personal track photographer! This was also my first chance to take track pictures with my new lens

Here are some pictures of Adam going around the track plus a few extras. Link to the gallery page afterwards.

There was a lot of this going on both on the skidpad (fortunately) and on the track (unfortunately)

The rest of the pictures can be seen here:

http://scottgrassophotography.com/86...onoma-raceway/

As always, if you would like higher-res copies of any of the photos, please let me know.

Yes, having the transponder will record your time. I will take your time from SpeedSF. Unless of course, you have your own personal Aim Solo (DL or not), I can take your time from that too.

Let's just not get in the way of the their Porsche/BMW drivers when they lap the 86s

Awesome. I don't have an AIM Solo, so SpeedSF transponder will be my official time keeper.

Looking forward to getting out there in April!

Color me stupid, but what are the safety gear regulations of helmets and such for the 86 Cup? I need to buy a new one and was wondering which Snell and dot standards are desired.

For starters, any SA2010, SA2015, or DOT will work. Fitment will be the most important regardless who's rating you may follow. Any plans to take it serious, I would suggest investing in a SA2010 or SA2015 helmet (SA2005 expired and discountinued) just because other race clubs/orgs tech helmets and having an outdated or non-Snell could end your day before it begins.

http://winecountrymotorsports.com/ inside Sonoma Raceway has a large inventory of helmets to try on.

I assumed as much. My helmet that was 2010 rated was damaged when I moved, so I figured it was worth asking if 2015 was now mandatory. Thanks!

We're not a stickler for safety gear, we should be though...however the track orgs that put the trackdays together could be.

Unfortunately, the helmet vendors we worked with (was in Livermore) has moved their shop to Montana. They gave us discounts.

I thought there was a discount available on Simpson helmets, no?
