Thought you might be using the larger pulley, and that was why you have contact with the hood. I'm running a 70mm, and haven't had any problems with the hood.

Is there any photo of snapped belt? Maybe tensioner is not correct?

So when my belt has been shredding, it's always started by 1 of the 'V' grooves just sheering off the belt. It might be the tensioner... How would I go about checking that ?
@ stockysnail, let me know how the blue belt works for ya. I'll try to snap a photo of my hood, but it doesn't look pretty at all.. |

Shredding... Are you sure your pulleys are not cutting the belt? Maybe treads are not matching? There must be a certain amount of torque on the tensioner. Maybe it's too much on yours. I don't know how to calculate it.

Did you get any damage internally? What was the behaviour of the car when it's snapped?

I've inspected the treads and they all line up just fine. I'm guessing now it is in fact the tensioner not pulling enough tension. When the groove shreds, it pretty much just separates from the belt completely and gets tossed around in the engine bay.
Car runs fine, as all the other grooves are still in tact and the remainder of the belt is engaged on the pulleys. |

With my 335 install coming soon, I have a few questions.
First I assume my shop should already know this, but I will just mention it to them ahead of time. If I understand correctly, after install, the tune must be flashed to the car prior to the first startup with the supercharger installed. How soon will I need new brakes running approx. 300hp? Is it unsafe to be running the stock brakes with this much power? I heard the stock clutch is good up to 350hp. My oil change is scheduled soon. Is it necessary to chang out the oil when installing an oil cooler? Coilovers have been purchased for upgraded suspenion. I just have to decide on the right set of rims and tires for my setup.

You can idle the car on the standard tune if you want to test that it runs etc.
The reason people say you need better brakes for the power is because you'll reach higher speeds consistently. If you're not in that situation (ie track or similar) then it's not necessary.

I would just wait. If it's the Perrin oil cooler or similar size, they will need an extra quart, but they will also need to follow the directions so the oil is pushed through the cooler. I installed mine myself, so if they follow directions they won't have any problems doing it. After it's installed you'll use the normal pre-oil cooler amount because when you drain the oil, the oil in the cooler will stay there as there's no way to drain it from the cooler. There's enough new oil when you do a change however that you need not worry about having old oil left in the system.
