You only need the fast, loud start to pre-heat the Cats. Since you are going UEL, and getting rid of the Cats, get an OFT and change your tune. I have a slower, quieter, cold startup idle because the startup idle is lowered, and the ignition timing is dropped from +14, to +4 degrees. You can have both, a loud exhaust AND a quieter cold-start. If you had an OFT and I had the definition file for your car's CAL ID, I'd send you a tune with the cold-start fix for free.

I have the jdl catted uel header paired with my TRD exhaust and tuned with OFT stage 2 and I love it! Think of it as the TRD exhaust note...add a bit more volume plus boxer rumble. Only exception is the cold start which is even louder now.

But in terms of exhaust noise in the cabin with the windows closed, it's just slightly louder. It was pretty loud and rumbly when I first installed it but it piped down a bit after a week of driving.

I very recently got a Tomei UEL cattless Header on my BRZ and got it tuned using ECUTEK. Before the headers I had a Perrin CAI and N1 invidia catback. Let me tell you something, It's pretty damn loud when I want it to be haha. But also gives the car a nice amount of power. gets completely rid of the torque dip.

I would Highly recommend The Tomei headers. And the price wasn't bad at all

how much and where did you get the jdl uel headers? since I live in the same area as you in greater Vancouver haha. And also do you know if catless will make it louder than catted (kinda confused since the uels such as gruppe-s or tomei doesnt specify if its catted or catless, maybe its a dumb question)

I got it from the JDL website during last year's black friday sales for around $600 US which was an awesome price considering catted headers usually around $1k. So it was pretty much the price of a catless header.

Catless headers definitely makes it louder since there's no catalytic converter to filter some of the noise (and fumes) out which is the reason why I got it. I don't think Gruppe-S and Tomei has catted headers though. You can tell since there's a big cylinder in front of the headers which is the catalytic converter.
