Thank you OP for this mod. 7/8 inch, 2 pack at Lowe's worked perfectly.

This is probably redundant and unnecessary, but I don't see a post referring to this: beginning with model year 2014, the power tap is in the center console storage bin, covered by a plastic cap which is secured by an integral strap. It seems silly to cut it off just to find the design has changed and it doesn't fit. So, I just rummaged around in the garage and used a couple compacted cotton balls to stuff the tube and then pressed a garden hose cap over the whole rubber tube surround. I'll see if it works, then go to Lowe's later if I have to. Thanks to you all for enabling this lazy bastard to lounge around longer reading your most excellent posts.

There's also a 12V socket and associated cap inside the glove box.
That one may be detachable. I haven't checked. But then you have an open socket in the glove box. Winning!

If you read the OP it is the glove box plug that is suggested.

The cap in the glove box of my '15 is removable and works perfectly. Using it does leave a live socket in the glove box and to me it's not worth the potential for a cock up. The Lowes caps work great and if that's too rich for you a small roll up foam ear plug works just as well. I used both.

Thanks to all you gentlemen for continuing to steer me to the glove box. I have finally discovered the power tap there -- on the firewall behind and above the glove box, way where it is hard to see. That's my excuse, anyway. What an odd place for it, except I now have a place to charge my phone--in the glove box, and the charger seals the socket to eliminate the short hazard. I discovered that my garden hose end cap worked even better to seal the sound tube, and the car now purrs along beautifully. Can I send anyone my plastic cap as a thank you? Let me know.

Me too. I did this mod with a $2 rubber plug from Orchard Hardware. Put the plug in at Orchard, drove around for a while, and took it out when I got home. To me, it sounds too much like a normal car with the sound tube blocked. YMMV.

I pulled the rubber grommet out, as well. If you do this, 881290 from Lowe's (in the hardware aisle with all the bolts) will make a snug fit into the hole. It's a 1" cap like these from Amazon:
