Oh really? So can you explain to me why they still fit 15 inch wheels? Overall weight and weight distribution seems to matter even for these cars. It is just that only weight *as is* means nothing. You need to combine weight with strength. That's all. Unless we are talking about drag racing and straight line acceleration which is again a wrong subject for our cars

Because it's a spec series. It has nothing to do with the 15" size or steel being better or worse at anything than other sizes or materials. It's simply what was established as spec for these cars a long time ago. |

An informative article of high rigidity vs. lightweight in wheels. They also mention some interesting things regarding cast vs. forged wheels.

So, faster in exactly half of the timed sections, and a bunch of 'feels like' opinions. Not exactly overwhelming evidence of one characteristic being better than another.

Very nice video. He mentions pretty much the same things that are mentioned in the article by Enkei. I'm pretty sure these wheels have more rigidity than the majority of forged and cast aluminum wheels and in parallel they are very lightweight!

That feeling when you will never have 16'' carbon fiber wheels.

Well CF might be oem if carbon revolution get their way, jury's still out though. That article by enkei is pure advertising for their MAT tech, Cast vs lighter but weaker Cast = stupid. If the other rim was forged it would be 300 times more rigid, therefore utilizing a design with less spokes and less weight but just as rigid. Were talking liquid alloy cast vs 8000 ton press
Still having fun on my 16's |

I actually think a 16" wheel looks better on stock ride height than the 17s do. I DD mine as well, and since I live in the land of potholes, frost heaves and shoddy cold patch work, I'm leaving my ride height alone. |

I guess it's a bit like LA climate where I am, never seen snow. I can run summer tires all year round. The roads can deteriorate if it rains heavy in winter. Speed humps, ramps and bad curbing in parking lots is what kills me, the 86 is just barely clears these at stock height, even then you have to be careful. Also I've only driven the 86 on 16's
