Like La Femme Nikita, there is only one Oldboy that counts. Instant classic.

**Props though to the Nikita TV series starring Maggie Q which was surprisingly respectable.

RFaD was described as "the best movie I only want to see once." by a smart person I can't remember the name of. Man that movie hurt. Also "Dancer in the Dark" starring Bjork. Here is a list of a few others.

Oh requiem for a dream, how you crushed my perception of the three main actors lol Marlon Wayans (can be serious), Jared Leto (I can understand where the casting him as Joker comes from) and Jennifer Connelly (from a beautiful mind to this lol)

All in all a very good (yet very fucked up) movie

Looked this one up. Since it didn't ring a bell. Apparently this was Sidney Pollack being mentored through the filmaking process by Burt Lancaster himself. Pollack has a way with images that makes me feel uneasy. This is good. Added to my watchlist. Thanks!

Of course. Cant think of a movie where the hollywood version is worth watching over the original

Although there is a "battle" it is not your standard war movie by a long stretch. The book is a very worthwhile read as well if you can wrap your head around what is going on.

Speaking of war movies.
Das Boot.

The stench of fear was perceivable.

Lots of lists out there:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...dered_the_best
http://www.afi.com/100Years/movies.aspx
http://www.bfi.org.uk/news/50-greatest-films-all-time

I like this site, checklist of movies, create your own list to watch and keep track of, no spam emails I ever noticed, simple site, average user friendliness:
imdb top 250:
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/top+250/

reddit top 250:
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/reddit+top+250/

misc list of 1001 movies:
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/1...efore+you+die/

AFI and Sight and Sound are the top two, typically historically important movies get stature that's doesn't translate to enjoyment from a modern viewer. The Reddit and IMDB lists are more relevant as they get less historical context votes for movies like Citizen Kane which imo don't hold up to modern viewing. Nice thing about picking up 50 year old movies is that time has filtered all the crap.

Rob Roy, especially if you have Scottish ancestry. Makes you want to eat the Haggis!

Also, the original version of "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The scene at the end where she looks up to see the jet passing overhead is a mind-bender!
