Looking for a tire between Pilot Super Sports and the stock Primacys
I enjoyed the fun nature of the stock Primacy tires until I spun out a few times in light rain. Thinking I wanted a bit more grip, I went with 235/45/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. This was too much grip. I read that sticky tires can contribute to the rear axle wearing out quicker. I know I'm already getting the dreaded "click" sound. I'll have to re-torque it again.
What's a good in between? If the stock tires are rated 1, and the PSS are rated 10, I'm looking for something rated 3-4. I'm in Southern California. Current wheels are XXR 527 17x8.25 which I think I will keep when I run out my PSS. If not, I'm goign to stick around 17x8. |

How about stock sized MPSS? Or even one size lesser width of 205/45/17? It will still be more grip then for primacies, yet not that bad as with 235 ..
Hmm, on other hand on 17x8.25 it might be on stretched side of things .. |

It doesnt take much to add grip compared to the primacy hps. I am running Potenza RE-760 sports in 225/45/17 on 8.25 xxr. Loads of grip but the car can still move around if you want it to.

When I replaced my original tires I went with Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus All-Season tires. They are stickier but not so much you can't have a little fun, give a slightly better ride, and my fuel mileage actually has gone up a bit over the time I've had them.

Yokohama s drives? Not sure how they would compare, but the are entry level summer performance tires. I plan to do s drives since I don't track or autocross and just do spirited driving.

Pete, I went looking for answers on this as well. I think he is talking about the rear axle's failing from to much grip/launching. There is a lot of info about it in this thread - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...licking&page=2

I'm daily driving on a set of 225/45 Bridgestone S-04 PP. They are about 85% of the PSS in wet grip, maybe 70% dry grip for about 50% of the price.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll check out those tires, mostly likely will go with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's however as I had those on my previous 330i but will pit those against he other suggestions.

I had Yokohama S Drives on my Integra (140hp) and those were not super grippy, went into skid many of times with those.
They're cheap and not super grippy, thats the tire I'm gonna go with when I get my wheels
