For autoX the 245 RS3s were faster on this chassis than 255s on 17x9

We've all moved onto the new Bridgestone RE71r but we are all running 245/40 on 17x9, not 255s.

You should flip the camber front to rear if you actually want your car to handle properly.

I run -3F and -1.8R

I still have 255 in the RE71R... Need to take some camber out in the back though, -3.3f/-2.8r, think I may go to -2.3r. Wear in the front seemed pretty good so not sure it's too much, but pondering a change to -3/-2

I'm well aware my alignment specs aren't ideal for handling, but the car is just a weekend car at them moment and with just over 1k miles I have no desire to take it to the track any time soon. My main goal was to fit as much wheel/tire as I could without modifying the body. When I can afford some RCE T2s then I will start worrying about having an alignment more geared towards handling. But for now unfortunately form>function.

Have you tried 245 stones??? I'm about to buy a new set for 2016 season and I can fit 255s. I've tried both in RS3 (which 245 was preferred for me personally) but this a new tire.

Oh are you not on coils? I didn't catch that. Makes a huge difference in clearance for wide wheels/tires and stock fenders.

I haven't. I found that I was dropping pressures toward the end of the season (confidence finally improving, though surface temps also dropping.) That's contrary to what I've heard others say they did with 255's, but my times were improving quite a bit and I wasn't having issues rolling over the sidewall. Some of that may have been the camber thing. I imagine a lot will change after the camber change.

It should also be noted that I have very different spring rates than many seem to run, so even if I ran 245's and preferred 255's (hasn't happened so I don't know) that may be specific to my setup. Maybe I'll have the opportunity to swap tires with someone else in the class this year, maybe not.

I've heard many describe their preference for the 245 RE71R in the same way the RS3 was described - a bit more responsive feel, especially on transitions.

I admit I'm a little unsure on the matter - while I respect the observations, the fact I found I needed the opposite tire pressure adjustment makes me wonder - either I'm really lost (it's possible I preferred the handling so was more aggressive, but the car was slower overall - or that it really did improve things...) or it's not quite so simple after all.

You were probably going faster because your driver mod was getting better despite whatever you were doing with the pressure.

Alright then I assume a spacer up front on eibach sportlines would be out of the question as well?

I have no idea. I'm sure it's worth a try.
