Good to know a simple, lightweight muffler delete shouldn't violate noise regs. That's what I'm planning to go with on my BRZ for autocrossing when it gets here. I'll probably get the one from Nameless Performance.

That was the exact same one I was looking at! It actually looks pretty "normal" when installed:

Hmm...I will ask to see if Nameless has some sound/video of it and possibly comment on how loud it is. (Not that I would like to use it on the street, but I will need a solution I can drive to local events and not risk getting pulled over).

Maybe it can be modified to accept a plug type silencer? Hmm...

also note that it's a cold start- it drops down to idle at 45 sec mark.

I think I will pick one of these up once I get the car next month. It'll may be a quick fix until some more decent single exhausts hit the market with dyno/system weight numbers. (not that I expect too much realistic hp gains from just catback)

maybe you guy should do a "fake mufler"

i know the Dodge SRT4 came without mufflers, sometimes the resonators do a good enough job of muffling the really nasty noises

if the car can pass a sound test without a muffler, then you make a "test pipe" but just make the outer case bigger so that it looks like a muffler from the rear of the car, that way the cops won't hassle you and just assume you have an aftermarket system rather than "no muffler" which is illegal in most places.

so no need to design anything fancy, just make it out of titanium

Ordered one of the nameless axelback delete pipes. Will definitely post videos when I get it later this week.

On the SRT4, the turbo is technically the muffler, but other than that it had two resonators and no other mufflers.
