Such a widespread issue is bound to be cleared up soon, though.

Sorry to hear that. I suspect it is simply due to octane grade. The manual mentions not to use fuel higher than E10 I think. Do you know if that kind of fuel is popular at your place? But I still don't think it is a fuel related issue since so many others have it. Good luck.

Well my car has been at the shop since last friday, was told I would hear back from scion by Monday and now it is going to be tomorrow. They say I am the only car in the nation having this issue. You guys should take your cars to the dealership, if anything it will speed up my recovery but seriously this seems to be a major issue. I threw CEL's as well as stalling but they cannot recover enough information right now to do anything about it.

Call Scion at 1-866-707-2466. If we reference the issue enough the will address the issue faster.

**EDIT**

So posting my reps number helped me get things going faster, they are quoting June 25th now but I have removed his "extension" at his request because of the overwhelming amount of calls that he has received regarding this same issue.

So it looks as if there are quite a few people with this issue other than those who have posted here.

From http://www.fr-sforum.com/forums/fr-s...ight-fr-s.html

So yesterday I was on my way to the dealership to have them take a look at the car and the check engine light went away during the 30 minute drive in Boston traffic. I arrived at the dealership only to have them tell me there is nothing wrong with the car, I pleaded with them to look at it and they told me to come back if it happens again. Unluckily for me the car died while exiting the parking lot but at least I was already at the service center. The check engine lights where on, along with every single light in the dash and the car was shaking pretty bad. A diagnostic could not determine the problem but the head tech said that it was a camshaft issue and that it was not due to abuse but rather just a faulty in the manufacturing process. I have driven the car a total of 2 hours now and now I am stuck with a crappy toyota camry loaner. I guess I am the first for this problem, well see what it becomes.

Camshaft issue? What?

That sounds bogus. Well, I bet Subaru will sort it out.

^^That is my post from fr-sforum, originally when I brought it to the dealership this is what I was told because the CEL being thrown was in reference to the cam. They later told me that Scion does not want them to work on the car. They have flown a scion rep in from headquarters and he will be looking at the car tomorrow, I also explained that a number of owners where experiencing similar problems so they will be addressing this issue a little more seriously now. Let you guys know tomorrow

Wow thanks everyone for all this info. Hope it gets sorted out. It sounds like it may be the same issue for most of us.

I'm also having this issue with my FR-S. I've always noticed that once in awhile when coming to a stop and letting the car idle that the engine runs a bit off, lowers the idle like it's going to turn off then idles fine again.

When the car had 650 miles at speed it seemed like it had a miss and started running very rough like it had a misfire from bad gas. I pulled over and the car turned off. When I started it up again it ran like it had a misfire, shaking, and would turn off again. At one point it wouldn't even start. I towed the car back to the dealership (I hope I never have to use Toyota Assistance again because I had to wait 4.5 hours for a tow truck and I was in the center of a big city on a major highway). The dealership said it was bad gas but my guess is that the next morning the car ran fine and they didn't do anything.

The car now has 1700 miles and it still does it but hasn't done it as bad as that one time I had it towed. However, yesterday it did it again and started shaking like it was going to turn off. I revved it and it went away.

This is definitely a problem that needs to get sorted.

Sounds like we should all be calling that number and reporting this problem very soon. A very large chunk of us are all having the very same issue and putting it off. The sooner Toyota and Subaru know, the better. I am calling tomorrow morning, and would love to hear that others are as well. Let's get this figured out before it causes major damage (if any), and some very upset new customers.

As of now, whiteout-frs has posted a number to call with a case number to report on this page. I'll call tomorrow, and if all goes smoothly, I'll post the numbers to call on the first page for others to find easier, and maybe get a few others to call to get this sorted out sooner.

I'll call tomorrow as well. As early adopters it looks like we got what we asked for! ;-)

1100+ miles with 3 fill-ups of 93 (mobile stations) it did it to me 2x today once idling in neutral, once in first. It had happened to me 2 other times that I had noticed, and probably a few times I hadn't.
