Both of my windows squeal for up to 2 days after heavy rain or washing my car.
I wanted to take the TSB (S-SB-0009-14 : Outside Door Weatherstrip) into dealership, but it says it is for vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN JF1ZNAA1#E8705465. Mine is JF1ZNAA1#E970####. So does this TSB not apply to my car? Suggestions? Thanks |

![]() So, 2 days ago we had rain. I lowered my passenger's side window and the squeaking sound was back. So, the wax application to the glass lasted a bit over 5 months. I should also mention, I washed my car last Saturday using the soap in a more concentrated application to remove tree sap accumulated on my car from the parking space at work. All in all, i think this solution is a win.

Just to chime in here...I have had my car to the dealer three times regarding this issue.
1. To get them to inspect and order the parts listed in the TSB. 2. To have the parts installed.(they didnt help the wet window skreech) 3. To have things re-adjusted to stop this terrible skreech. After three trips and many hours waiting around the dealer I was told " this is as good as it gets". After the first rain I discovered it skreeches as bad as it ever did. I hope the wax thing works, because Scion doesnt seem to have a solution or the motivation to provide one. |

The wax reduces the friction between the glass and the trim to the point where there is no squeaking. For me the wax application lasted a long time. What I don't know is if liquid wax would work or last as long. If you have wax on hand, give it a try. You have nothing to loose.

The waxing thing worked for me (so far...)
I was getting the loud squeak when lowering or raising the windows after a rain...
I tried the Carnuba wax procedure posted earlier in this thread.... and it has stopped the squeaking (so far...). Notable about this process is that once the window was down (with wax on it...) and I used the rag (with wax on it) to clean the inside of the window opening... the rag came out with a BUNCH of dirt, etc. on it.... so there was a lot of stuff that could have been rubbing against the window at various points along the width of the window.

I took my FRS to the dealer for them to look at my wet window squeaking. I live in LA so it BARELY rains but I wash my car every week so I still get the squeaking windows.
They ordered weather strippings and window stabilizer bars. Car is still sitting at the dealer.

If you mean there is squeaking (friction/rubbing) noise when the top edge of the window rubs up on the weatherstripping.... then what the dealer is doing sounds appropriate.

It's a "lubricant" fix... not a weatherstripping fix. If they want to do that in addition to the silicon they'll spray on the rollers inside the door... I guess that's their prerogative. I had to do that fix last year when the "window-top" friction starting causing some weird pinching deformation of the weatherstripping.
