I was thinking about doing the Enkei TS10 in 17x8, once I have confirmation that they're in the 18 pound range.

Also not interested in matte black. Nothing else is matte on my car.
I also like the Enkei's, but the guys are right, you won't save that much weight off the stock wheels. I put PSS 225/45R17s on my stock rims and they are working just spectacularly. $135 a tire at Discount Tire.

If you use the Enkei's then you could increase the tire width some more...

I remember that picture from the Hot Lava gallery thread. She's pretty, but yeah. She could easily stand next to the car.

Also, my other two tires came today. The wheels should come tomorrow and the lugs should come Friday. It's like I did this on purpose.

I prefer to run my tread width to be about the same as the width of the wheel for marginally firmer sidewalls. If the Enkeis weigh what I think they do, I'll go up in width a bit, and stay about the same as far as weight goes. Will it make a big difference? Probably not. Regardless, I'll need new tires in the spring, since I sold my stock tires when I put my winters on.

I'm slapping some 245/40 tires on a 8.5in wheel. If the weights I found are right, it will be lighter than stock setup.

Yeah, 245 is wider than I want to go. I'm not trying to build an STX/SM car.

I went with 8.5 instead of 9 because I figured a 225/45 would fit it in a pinch if I decided to cheap out on tires one time. I'd rather buy a good tire in a smaller size than a cheap tire in the bigger size.

Concur on this. Part of the appeal of this car (vs. my last, for instance) is that it takes cheap tire sizes. I can run through a set of tires yearly and not feel bad about it, whereas my last car had a $1000 dollar/year tire habit.

I dunno, I may just run the stock wheels again this spring/summer. We'll see. I'm about to get ravaged by taxes.

Like your grandmother, I didn't start speaking English until grade school. But I didn't keep up with it because soon after, my mom decided to switch to English at home. I always regretted that.
