Any Jiu-Jitsu guys here? If so what gi's do you use
As title states, wondering if anyone here is into BJJ and if so what gi's you have in your rotation and what your thoughts are on it.
I used to do jiu-jitsu when I was younger and am going to start it up again (need to get back into shape a bit). After looking around for gi's that weren't too expensive or flashy, I decided to go with the Ronin Brand Insigna v2. I'll try to post up some quick thoughts on it when I get it. |

Tried it once. I'm sticking with Kenpo. I'm not sure the brand of my gi. But, I went with a middle-weight. I'll have to check when I get home and see who makes it. But for what you are doing, I'm sure you have a cotton tweed or some type of rip-stop.

really, you're gonna go with a gogoplata? Not saying it can't happen but I mean, I'm much more likely to get choked out, armbarred, leg locked than omoplata'd (especially considering not every bjj guy is good in the rubber guard and if they are I'm not stupid enough to play in their rubber guard). I also doubt I'll be rolling with purple belts at first.
Also I've done bjj before (ok like ten year ago) but still roll from time to time, the gogoplata being my favorite move (I just can never finish it, lack of technique and the fact escaping it isn't so hard if you know what you're doing). I do have a mean guillotine and a decent rear-naked (obviously for my skill level, a purple belt should still have a better guillotine than I do). I'm also very creative (very useful sometimes, others not so much, in fact, can be a detriment due to my basic skill level). |

Nah I've always been more into jiu-jitsu than wrestling (probably because there isn't much decent anything as far as wrestling goes here, no hs/college programs that I know of and no instructor of good renown/skill either). BJJ on the other half has a ton of good instructors trained under some of the best and most renown grapplers. The head instructor at the place I am going to train received his black belt from Fabio Holanda. They are also affiliated with Tristar and N1 Thai boxing (which is owned by one of Bob Carver's best students, now turned kruu). Bob Carver is(or was I haven't kept up) the president of the Muay Thai Canada Association and trains certain military units and law enforcement special units in hand to hand combat(he was tutelaged by Dan Inosanto). |
