Nitrous tanks are pretty burly, in an accident your more likely to have a problem with that 13 gl tupperware of gasoline we all carry around. I am a welder and work around pressurized gas bottles all day. While they do need to be respected they can take a pretty good hit. There was a report of one falling off a truck the other week, I'm talking the big 5ft tall bottle, just bounced down the street.

It makes everything seem funny. Not sure how much they use it in dentistry nowadays but back when I was a kid it was the bomb!

And the trunk option would be second to what other option reasonably? We could go as far as to say walking is your best safety option, but who wants to do that.

If you're going to have nitrous, interior trunk is the safest option I'm aware of. mounting in cabin would expose you to rapid decompression of the bottle, composing of rapid temperature drop, shrapnel as well as the effects of oxygen deprivation. At least the trunk would shield or lessen the effects thereof. If you're carrying nitrous in your car outside of a sanctioned event (generally drag racing) then you take your chances. I believe most tracks will not allow a car with in cabin mounted nitrous to even run the 1/4 mile due to safety concerns. It's never a good idea to just ride around with your nitrous bottle 24-7.

That's right, nitrous is an accelerant and only acts in the presence of fuel and fire, despite what F&F may have taught us, lol

I suppose the only other option is in cabin.

Medical grade and Commercial grade Nitrous is way different stuff. The commercial stuff used in a nitrous kit would be bad stuff to inhale. A small amount of Sulfur Dioxide is added to make it nasty.

It works from what I've read and seen videos of, just throwing that option out there :P

However, I'm looking forward to seeing you complete this project. Just don't blow up your car. It is a Lava after all. Any other color, that's completely fine.

Yep ^ If you are in an accident that is bad enough to smash in the rear of your car release the nitrous then that becomes the least of your worries!

Yep^^ F&F is NOT a documentary!

Nope^ As per the debate that I had with the guy selling fire extinguisher brackets, unless the mounting system is fully crash tested keep heavy steel containers out of the cabin. Some day I will find footage of what happens to this sort of thing in a crash or severe roll over and people will finally get what I mean. It is scary as FUCK! These things belong in the trunk along with every other heavy or large piece of equipment or cargo.

to be honest the more I think about it I might hold off. Its the full cost that is keeping me away for now. See I thought it was only going to be $1500CAD to do this but after lot and lots of research its way more. See I still want to sell my current tires and get some race tires and just enjoy the corners for this year. or do a 4.88 rear end

Why post a fire pic? that fire was not nitrous or even mod related.
