Obligatory "It's been a while since updating" post. We've been steadily upgrading and enjoying our twin twins.

I have updated the first post to list most of the modifications and added a few fresh photos of the cars in their current(ish) states. Here's an update...

So since the last update, we finished installing a Cosworth Stage 2.0 supercharger kit on the FRS. Internals remained stock for a while, but we developed an overheating coolant issue after a few months, and found it was a failing head gasket leaking combustion gasses into the coolant system, causing air pockets to form during heavy boosting. Engine is now finishing up being upgraded to forged internals and other supporting mods to handle more HP. See list of upgrades in 1st post.

During that time we tackled a complete build of the BRZ with AVO Stage 3 turbo kit, billet compressor wheel upgrade, larger intercooler upgrade, forged internals, etc. This car is making just shy of 400whp on 93 octane and it is amazing. Initially we were having difficulty getting any traction in the first couple of gears, but Sharif at Forged Performance wrote us a custom traction control program for the ECUtek tune that monitors rear tire speeds and gently but quickly pulls timing to keep excessive tire spin in check. It. Is. Amazing. With factory traction control "off", (press left button 5 seconds) I can just pin it coming out of turns or launching, and it JUUUUST allows the rear tires to spin up, but no longer blows them off and jumps to redline, slamming into the rev limiter and killing your momentum. Totally transformed the car.

Plans now are to enjoy them for a bit, and work on getting more power out of the FRS eventually. We are working with Cosworth on the best way to go about driving the supercharger harder with pulley upgrades, but we're leaning toward just doing a twincharge setup with AVO+Cosworth. Stay tuned!

Here are some fresh pics and vids:

The wife's BRZ now:

BRZ forged internals

FRS supercharger install

FRS complete stereo upgrade, including custom sub box with four 8" Alpine subs and Massive Audio amp

OLM Bi-xenon HID fog lights with 3000k bulbs (Yes they have a high and low beam )

BRZ tail light mod

Picked up some snow tires for "winter". Annyyy day now....

I'm hardcore like that

We rock!

Ran across some tickets for sale to the Ocala, FL WannaGoFast.com 1/2 mile drag race event last weekend. I was going to head down there and hang with some friends who were running 1000+hp GTRs, but figured I could have a little fun in the wife's turbo BRZ as well. I was the only 86 running, and pretty slow compared to most of what was out there, but she got a lot of attention and held her own all things considered. I think a lot of people appreciated that it was something they could afford in this sea of exotics and it sounded mean. (removed middle of exhaust, installed turn-down) Made 14 passes, first drag event ever in an 86, and first 1/2 mile race in my life. Car ran in the 130s every single pass...stupid consistent. Here's a video of my best run:

Very cool builds. I went through deal's gap for the first time right at the end of the season last year and saw your signs everywhere.

One day I'll take the BRZ, but it was still pretty fun in a forester, lol.

Recent activities....made a run down to GA to attend ChumpCar race at Road Atlanta our guy was running in. (Team "Busted Axles" - They finished 10th out of over 100!) Then hit up Caffeine and Octane the next morning, followed by a run through the mountains of north GA with the 86 Atlanta crew. Very good times, but hit a big fresh cat carcass on the way back home.

Hanging out at Road Atlanta with my builder/tuner Sharif in his GTR

Denied!

Next morning at Caffeine and Octane in Atlanta.

86 Atlanta group drive after.

Carnage from the drive back home...already got it cleaned and patched back up. Lip is damaged from dragging on the road though, so will be replaced.

Forecast calling for ice and snow, so figured while it was up in the air getting the lip repaired, might as well slap these on...

They look so cute all tucked in there

Just in time!

Until next update, stay tuned!

No worries, it was sort of a whirlwind affair for me last weekend down there anyway...running around non-stop seemed like. Lots of fun though!
