Ok here's the proof. 99% sure I'll have heated mirrors after buying the relay unless the glass in the mirror housing differs from the Canadian models.

Scaling on the volt meter was 20v dc and everything was grounded out to the chassis ground right below the fuse box.

Pin 2 is the input to energize the relay from the rear window defroster relay. I saw it varied in voltage while the defroster was running so I wonder if the main body ECU is able to vary it.

Pin 5 is the feed the mirror relay takes from the battery input to then send out to the mirrors via the 7.5 amp fuse next to the mirror relay.

Sweet! So it's looking like we have mostly everything in the car that we need to install these heated mirrors! Awaiting the rest of your findings!

Update. Relay ordered and on its way. Cheapest way to get it ended up via Ebay at 19 bucks. Most places have it listed slightly cheaper but want to tack on an extra 15 bucks for shipping.

Subaru part number is as follows: 82501AG041

Your heated mirrors are installed? I bench tested mine. They get warm to the touch within a minute.

By bench test did you jump the pins and test the mirror in place?

OPTEST UNSAT. Had the ice over I needed, started the car to deice but came back to nothing having deiced on the mirrors. When I'm installing my fog lights I'm going to be under the dash and I'm going to look at the connectors for the door called out in the wiring diagrams to see if the pins are there as this was the one part I wasn't certain of when I did my initial looks and voltmeter testing.

At least you have the relay.

At a minimum you need that relay, the mirrors themselves, and the cables from the doors to, hopefully, already existing connectors under the dash. The USDM mirrors don't have heating elements and I've had my doors apart. There are no wires for the heating elements.

I really hope this doesn't turn into something like dual climate control where you need a different harness.
