RJ Reynolds Tobacco company (Camel, Doral, Pall Mall, and many other brands) sponsored (fully paid) field trips for elementary school kids to go to the manufacturing plants to see how cool the manufacturing of cigarettes was. My class loaded up on a bus early in the morning, took the 2 hour ride there, got a full tour of the factory, a bag full of candy cigarettes with the brands on them and a $10 "credit" in the gift store. We all left with all kind of branded cigarette "stuff" (hats, playing cards, etc).

It is the only field trip from elementary school where I can still remember small details because it was so cool at the time. My favorite was watching the filter cigarettes being made. They were rolled double with a filter on each end then cut. The automation was fascinating.

Never been so thankful so such a terrifying story. Thank you for posting this. The fact that people's grandfathers, uncles, or brothers sat in an office someplace, researched, developed and approved programs like this then went home to embrace and provide for their own families is a reminder that monsters are in a way, real.

I get the sentiment. Still, IMO there's kind of a big difference between irresponsibly causing a reckless/fatal situation by drinking+driving and tobacco companies systematically indoctrinating children en masse into a habit that they secretly knew would kill them for profit. Now if booze companies were telling people it's safe to drink and drive while giving mini bottles of peach schnapps to the kiddies we'd have some equivalency. All in all, it's pretty sick, no?

This is true and some people do nicotine free such as myself not unflavored and non nicotine just non nicotine. I've never been a habitual smoker in my life just the occasional cigar and nicotine gives me headaches but I love the flavors of juices

Ahh but people are well aware of the possibility(if not straight likelihood) they are endangering others. By my count, once you're educated on the risks, any time you do it, you are intentionally putting others at risk. I could go shoot my ak in random directions every Friday night with the same effect, possibly even a lower chance of actually hurting someone.

I'm trying to quit smoking and I can't stand the flavors, even the ones I sort of like I get tired of really fast. I mix my own unflavored w/nic and it comes out to pennies a day.

It could be any state. The AK isn't banned, you just have to meet certain regulations in other states(like maximum 10 round capacity in California)

I actually like guns and want to get a handgun license so I can go target shooting in my free time. But the process is a pain and costs $500+ in fees.

Fuck New York. They are a bunch of savages up there. By their count nearly all guns fall into that category. Except apparently the SKS which was and still is a military weapon... But I digress. I won't live there, if you guys want to, that's fine
