This is how I see them too. Cheap reversible paint jobs... I can understand the appeal. Just a vinyl wrap by itself I don't think is rice in the same way a car with an aftermarket non-functional spoiler or non-sponsor stickers is.

With vinyl wraps, it's kind of like asking is a car with a cheap paint job rice? Not really, it's just cheap lol.

Rice or nice for vinyl wrap is exactly the same as it is for paint. Depends on the style and the job done. It's nice to have a non-permanent option.

One thing I don't like on a car is a differently colored engine bay, but that depends on color.

A black/white/gray engine bay doesn't look that bad, but a silver car with an orange bay or something like that will look cheap.

Yes I realized wrapping is the same as painting. I was just trying to think of a RECENT CAR FAD that people seem to be doing.

I PERSONALLY believe it can be both.

Wrapping can be used professionally as in decals trying to show off their business on a vehicle.

What I'm talking about which can possibly be rice is the "oh I am going to wrap my car matte orange because I can and it'll look dope! *sucks on douche flute vape*"

This rice or nice stuff usually isnt towards the people who do the modifications to the car (professional wrappers) it's the owners of the cars. Please do not mix these up, and like I said, most of this "rice" stuff is hard to talk about because it can hurt people's feelings pretty easy. But I'm just trying to come up with the recent car fads that are going on in our current "car culture"

This thread is meant for discussion, if threads werent meant for discussion then why would we even have them?

UM sheep. There is no such things as "recent" car fads really. Everything being done has been done before. The only real difference is the level of technology in which it is done now. The basic ideas have happened since the first car rolled off the line and some guy (usually young) said "well that is nice but..."

I'm not talking about in general. I'm talking the recent fads we have now and what we are seeing. good example is stancing. In the early 90s it looked different too from the crazy body kits etc

Culture in general evolves and changes and what would've been popular in the past might not be popular now. thats why I say "recent"

I've always though wraps were kind of cheesy. The areas not covered like under the hood, door jam, trunk area, etc. that are left uncovered just look bad. But if you do a wrap around the same color as the original paint I suppose it would be alright.

depends on how its done, a nicely done wrap can look really really good while at the same time a poorly done wrap can make a car look terrible
