Saw it with myself and saw it with many many more. The US was crippled when the economy crashed. Everyone was affected even the rich.

Who really cares if you pay it off or not. We're all going to die. Sucks but whatever. Live life to its fullest. And if that means racking up those CC's, accepting every loan you are offered, Doing coke off hookers buttholes. Then so be it.

Well I wasn't saying college was useless, Just for those people that go to school for something, IE photography, Numerous people i have seen gone to school for something like this. End up not pursuing the career, And get a job just to pay for the schooling that was useless..

Shit i would of gone to college if i had the option. maybe one day.

OK that I can agree to!
I also apologize for going off on you earlier. Wasn't fair as I myself said half the people would call me a moron.

The way I figure it is that I have somewhere around 20 years of functional life left with about 10 of that still working. If I carry debt now then it will all be cleared by retirement. That way I can have the things I want but not be paying for them. I refuse to live in fear of the economy, illness or Skynet take over since debt or not those things would screw things up. I am not saying that every young guy here should run out and rack up some nice bills simply that in my case this is my plan and it has worked for many years now.

Being the end of the Baby Boomer generation I was lucky in that college was not as important as it is now. You could still "work your way up" much easier than now. When we are recruiting we look at education very closely. We do not however care in the least if it is relevant to the position (in most cases that do not involve engineering). What we are looking for is if it was completed, the grades received and any extras applied to that diploma (Dean's list, Honours, etc) since these things can all reflect a person's work ethic and learning ability. We can train you in the subject matter if you have the ability to learn but can not use you if you are not willing or able to do the work required to learn what we need. (Does that make sense to anybody but me?)

Well looks like Tcoat forgot to take his meds people. Move along nothing to see here.

Haha jk it makes total sense. Plus if you have 2 applications and 1 has education and you could only pick 1 then without even doing an interview you already know what one you are going to hire

Makes perfect sense. To anyone listening: Tcoat is dropping some significant knowledge here!

I've spent 15 years working for one of the top 100 companies in the world, and this is exactly what hiring managers and HR reps are looking at when they evaluate applications.

I have had coffee now and am fine.

Your statement isn't exactly accurate either. Taking engineers (who I hire the most) out of the equation then experience in a field will trump education about 90% of the time. If I am looking for a shipping clerk and one has done it for 10 years and the other has a diploma of some sort but only done the job for two then 9 times out of 10 the 10 year guy/girl is going to get the job. Now that is over simplified as well though since if the 10 year person had worked at 10 places I would not be talking to the in the first place. I have also rejected people with a great education over somebody with next to none based entirely upon personality. You can be the smartest guy in the world and if you are just not going to fit in then we don't want you (this time I AM talking about engineers).
