Tom's tailights

I was thinking about ordering a pair of Tom's http://www.fteightysix.com/new-produ...baru-brz-clear but had some questions.

Are these plug and play or do I need to modify anything? Also, are these legal to drive around with as far as the signal/brake light color?

Ultimately I'm looking to get rid of the stock tails on my FRS 2013 and go with something with a black housing and red lights.

So many threads answer your questions. (10 second google)

But to give another answer. Yes, they are plug and play from most, if not all vendors. Some are DOT approved, some aren't. Take your pick of the lights you like and if they're DOT approved, you're good. If they aren't, then you may get in trouble with the law.

I'm sorry I didn't search further, little early for me. Didn't mean to create another useless thread.

I'll take a look at the Tom's and make sure they are DOT approved. Any idea on where the best place to buy a set of these are? I'm new here.

Nope, I'm good. Rookie mistake not searching before asking. I'll make sure to search thoroughly next time and also make sure I'm fully awake before posting

BTW don't bother use the search feature on this site google what you want and add "FRS" or "ft86 club" at the end then the top link should be to a few thread and at the bottom there is a show more or something like that. Only real way to search hahaha!

Thanks for the tip, I was using the search on the forum with mixed results. Appreciate it!

Yeah the search on here is the worst search tool I have ever seen in my life. Hell encyclopedia's are easier to search

^ this, BUT: use "site:ft86club.com" at the beginning of your search instead of just adding "ft86 club" that forces google to search this site specifically.

And TOMs come in USDM and JDM version, along with DOT approved and non-DOT approved versions. The DOT approved USDM version is what you want. They come with the proper pin configuration on the wiring harness and a side reflector light in the tail light to make them DOT compliant.

Just got my TOMs installed from fteightsix.com

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...ostcount=12947

They are completely plug and play (besides having to install a new flasher relay (which is plug and play too, just a pain to get to)). Took me about 15 minutes to install them. I didn't get the DOT approved ones though. Whether or not MD/VA police will care, only time will tell.
