What made you change your mind from type A to type B?

Looking forward to the results as well!

Time.

The type B had a lead time of two weeks. The type A is several months, and i wasnt sure if i was going to make the cut before ACE decides to stop production on them. The bad, my header(Type B) is a little heavier, though still about half the weight of stock. The good, the type B is easier to install because of the angle of the collector. But, in the end i chose type B because of the lead time.

Ace Header is halting production.

Our staff (now up to 7 members!) has been working flat-out to fulfill orders and now it's time to switch back to R&D.

If you have any open orders with us we will complete them and then go into hibernation for a while.

When we emerge we will have some new goodies that we think will help make these cars even more awesome.

We'll still be around so if anyone has questions just let us know.

Happy Driving,
Team ACE

If you are looking for a Type-A or Type-B header, please let us know. The production halt is just a temporary one while they work on R&D projects; it's not a complete shutdown of manufacturing. Likewise, our testing never ends and sometimes when we're quiet, we're actually busy helping others out, not because we decide to flip a table and rage quit.

Again, if you have any questions on ACE products, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Just a quick update for anyone who is watching. I will be heading down to COBB March 11th and 12th to get my before and after dynos for the ACE Header and Front pipe. I will be posting these dynos for everyone to see. If for some reason, I am a moron and cant get them to upload, I will ask CSG or Delicious Tuning to post them for me.

As of right now I am running a DTFF (Delicious tuning flex fuel kit) and a tune for a stock car. COBB has nothing to do with any of the tunes or parts, they strictly are going to be my dyno operator. I trust them to do it right. But my hope is to show (at the very least) a base line dyno of the DTFF running 91 before header and front pipe(essentially a stock car). Then show two after dynos with the ACE Header/front pipe installed. One running 91 and the second running E85. Ideally this will be completed in 1 day, but it is likely to take 2 days. The runs should still be very close when comparing weather conditions.

I will be running Oklahoma 91, which is sh*t. I have had tuners from Cobb, FBM, TPC racing, and others; all tell me that the 91 i bring them is just about the worst they have ever seen. In fact it is more like 90 or 89 octane. But it wont matter too much cause both 91 dynos will be using the same sh*tty 91 gas. However, my E85 gas in these parts is usually pretty good and stable.

On a separate note, I am diggin the flex fuel kit from Delicious. Super simple install, and nice to have a bracket to bolt everything too instead of just zip ties. Besides a tune and header, this should be one of the first power mods you do to an FT86. Assuming you have access to E85, if you dont...then i am sorry.

Since the Header/OP gasket is unique, if I wanted to switch back to stock header for compliance or whatever, do I need to separate the header/OP, or can I keep them together and remove header from the engine and then the OP from the front pipe?

You clearly didn't do the install of the header if you ask this question! To answer your question, second option.

I'm not 100% sure because I've never tried to remove the header + OP as one piece, but I can't imagine it would be easy. It might not be possible at all.

Oh ok! Sorry, I thought you own it already. To clarify, you will need to take off the over pipe (extended runners) and undo the header from both ends too. Now, the over pipe extension is probably the easiest overpipe I have ever installed (undo the engine mount bolts - chassis one, lift up the engine about an inch and start with the overpipe perpendicular with the engine and rotate while you go in). The switch should not take you longer than half hour.
This small effort is nothing compared to the amount of smiles you will have on your face every time you take off quick (provided that you will give it a tune or OFT).

Good luck
