Even back then they could straighten a bent frame. The bad part was if you were in a collision bad enough to bend the frame they were fixing it for the next guy because you were dead.

On a lighter note (so Steve get's his fix) I once used an angle grinder to cut slots in the frame of my Gremlin so I could bolt a bar with a trailer hitch to it. Wasn't even remotely concerned that I was compromising the integrity of the car.

Not yet we can't.
You need to counter with a very similar but not exactly the same story. Otherwise the pattern is broken and Steve will be sad.

Well, yes, I remember when cars had "frames" and the cross members were bolted/riveted on.

But, for the life of me ....... I can't come up with a bent frame story ......

I'll have to pass to @Ultramaroon or another old timer .....

Sorry, guys. Looking at those pics I'm not comfortable with the buckling I see on the driver's side. I hope the best for OP but even if it can be straightened back to within acceptable specs there remains the question of future crash-worthiness. Unless there are some restoration techniques I don't know about, it won't be able to absorb energy anywhere close to its pre-collision state.

Again, not an expert. Really curious to see how this turns out.

hmmmm.......I took another look .......with my head right side up this time ...... and I still don't see anything (including that "dimple") in the side of the frame, to preclude the car from being repaired and be safe to drive.

Yes, I too, would like to know what the experts have to say.

(Snort) "A Gremlin!" (snort). I only ever drove one once. Certainly made my top five list for 'worst car ever driven'. And that list includes an AMC Pacer and an Eagle. Cutting the frame couldn't have made it any worse.

Fortunately, I have no experience with frame straightening!

The answer to your question is " You should have no problems with driving the car after the frame has been pulled" That is what they are there for and if it cant be pulled they will let you know. The modern equipment used is pretty sophisticated in that there are a lot of datum points that they will match to make sure it is right.

Did you buy this as a crashed project or did you participate in the damage?

The good news is that FRS/BRZ parts are not all that rare in the scrapyards, so parts might be available for cheap.

I got my car repaired at the body shop at sawgrass ford. They are an authorized Geico facility. Not saying they are the best but they did a hell of a job on my car. Didn't have any frame damage but my front end was wrecked pretty bad and it came out looking brand new. And they warranty their work so I was able to bring my car back on a couple different occasions to fix a few things.

how rich are you man buying a toy just for track days, few times a year. And after your toy is totaled, you rebuild the same toy.

Im positive you were probably the one at fault in this accident lol.

It doesn't matter who was at fault. The guy asked if his car can be fixed. Projected use of said car doesn't matter

People break their toys when they aren't careful. Drive it like your Corolla and you'll be just as safe. Drive it like a toy and you might wreck it too. But what's the point of a toy if you can't drive it?
Thats so true, I drive like a grandma when I have passenger. I drive like Initial D when I am alone, just in case I crash,, I die alone!
