I see a lot of people buying the Rota's (or saying they're going to buy them). Just wondering why that is in case I'm missing something.

Also, R*S3's are the best choice you can make for a street tire, IMHO. I have them on my MR2 Spyder (But autox on V710's in SSM). Still those tires are fantastic. Good choice.
Nothing wrong with Rotas at all..but these will serve dual purpose for now... Race/Daily for the time being. Higher quality??? I have seen RPF1's TACO, Probably the worse I have ever seen..making them unusable...Your not missing anything..ALot of Good competitive drivers run Rota's.... Karen Kraus, McCance, James Wilson, Christy Carlson..all have some National Success..and have had no issues with Rota... I Went to Rota with the intention of getting a wheel that 'fits' and was relatively light and would suffice my needs for a ST* Wheel.. They Succeeded....

Ahh. I've seen/read of a lot of failures with rotas. That was why I questioned the choice. I have heard some people complain of failures with the Enkei's as well, but not the same volume of complaints.

I actually autox on Flik blast wheels (From Edge Racing when they were still in business) which are heavier than my RPF1's which I use for daily driving (I know, I know). And I think the blast are knock off's of the spoon wheels that rota makes a version of as well. In reality, the difference of a pound or 2 won't make a huge difference except for those chasing hundredths. Definitely not in my case at least. I'm pretty good, but not at a national level.

Black wheels do look nice on the white. good luck with the autox build progress.

What's the reasoning for the 17x9 vs 17x8? this tire will fit (maybe even a little better) on a 17x8" wheel.

Just trying to figure out what my first DD/AutoX set-up will be. I run 245/40/17 on 17X8 on my GTI right now.

depending on Classing... Class limit on Wheels are 9's... Tires will be 255 or 265...I went with 245's to be safe for now...but in the future...it might be 255 or 265..

Running STX? How is the car with stickier rubber? Do you have any planned suspension mods?

I'll prob just autoX stock for the rest of the season once I get the car, but we'll see.
