People think snow is terrible in a light, RWD "sporty" car. The power of the vehicle is not a lot, and being low doesn't affect it unless you have maybe 1 foot of snow. Just add weight to the back if you plan to drive more in the snow. Also keep the revs low. |

Just be easy on the throttle, and you'll be alright. Everything else is the same as driving any other car in the snow - smooth inputs and brake early.

Still waiting for the pic with some snow in it. The one so far just looks like a light frost.
Don't be afraid of the snow. Ease up a bit and leave the nannies on most of the time. If the snow gets really deep (over the fangs on the bumper) then turn them off. Yes we managed without them for years but they can react way faster than you and can save your ass. Performance snows are better than nothing but you do need to be more careful than full snows.

Find a big empty parking lot and try the pedal dance. No, traction control is not required. Just learn how to drive without fighting physics. ***OMG, how on earth did the human race survive driving without traction aids?***

So many don't seem to get this concept and I hear all the time "oh you drive that in the winter. Isn't it hard with the rwd?" The only thing that is different is when you accelerate. Every single other action is exactly the same as any other vehicle. Hell I have had guys freak out that I drive a rwd car and then turn around and say I should get a pickup for the winter.

I might be the only one here who doesn't go easy on the throttle in the snow, I literally steer and slide around with my right foot because it's fun when no one else is on the road.

SOURCE![]() I wasn't afraid of the snow or the bit of sliding, was just surprised since everyone was saying how easy it is to drive in the snow with some good tires, Although I guess if you compare my driving experience today with the rest of Northern VA I guess you can say it was relatively easy

I bought my BRZ last January and avoided driving when it was snowing. But one night I got caught in an unexpected flurry. It wasnt predicted in the forecast so the city didnt do its usual salt prep of the roads. THAT was not fun. I was doing fine just being extra careful with the gas pedals, but once I hit an incline road, I got about halfway up before the car went sideways. Had to turn off traction control and rock my way out of there. My clutch suffered at that point too (it was only my second or third month of driving a manual car). This year, the winter has been oddly warm and snow free so I haven't put snow tires on yet. But I'm definitely not gonna risk it again. If it snows, I'm just gonna keep it garaged until its dry enough out for me to go to a shop and get some blizzaks. Here's a pic of my car after I parked it to get dinner with friends. The snow didnt stop and eventally got to I think 4-5 inches of accumulation by the time i was driving home:
