Kinda regret not picking up the new brakes and their diffuser now. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to see how this develops.

Anyone else surprised speedfactory hasn't commented on the thread yet?

Not really. It seems to have been already resolved and their website, albeit was loading more slowly, is still working just fine. Placed an order this week and got the fastest free shipping ever. New credit card, no new problems to report

Consider using PayPal with 2 factor authentication. Any and all purchases have to be completed using an authorization code sent to your phone from PayPal. It's not convenient, but security never is.

When using debit cards, keep the available balance and the overdraft protection low (less than $200)

Also, we all should consider our identity and personal information more valuable than a bit of cash.

Pretty much same for me. It'll get hacked to all the good company once in their life time. They learn, they fix, they move on. They're still good guys, they're not here to screw anyone. They work extra hard to make things right, they have my respect and I recommend to anyone still.

I'll be ordering exhaust cover and other goodies from them when I get bonus or tax return. Holiday season hit me hard w all the xmas present for the others that, I didn't have a chance to buy anything for myself

Well I never got this letter because that SOB changed my mailing address. Good thing I stumble upon this thread, now it all makes sense.

But it is totally unacceptable to be hearing about this now.

If your mailing address got changed, it sounds like a separate incident where someone got your password one way or another (breach of another site where you use the same password, brute force, or malware on your own computer).

In this case, it sounds more like an attacker was able to breach the web application or server itself and intercept information as it was being sent during checkout.

Anyway, credit reporting agencies have your most recent address on file and in cases like this where they get involved, they usually look up your account number to find your address so you're properly notified. They wouldn't rely on the mailing address kept on your account at FT86SF (Also explains why people didnt receive emails, credit reporting agencies dont keep your email on file)

Not really. To change someone address you just need a debit or credit card, name, and address. The same information that was stolen in the FT86SF breach.

does this breach only affect customers who purchased between those dates? Or does it affect all customers with previous purchases as well?

Huh. Change someone's address where though? I thought you meant they changed the saved address in your FT86SF account.

I am wondering this as well. I purchased from them about a year ago (no fraud charges yet *knocks on wood*) and I actually just made a purchase from them about an hour ago. I wish I would have seen this thread before I made that order so I could have used a credit card instead of my usual debit/credit card. Oh well. I'll be sure to keep a close eye on my account over the next few weeks.

Here's to hoping that they fixed their security issues? lol
