Yeah it's definitely priced right for that company. I'd imagine they'll add an "F" variant at some point to compete with the M6, Maserati, AMG Coupes etc...

The current look of Lexus is certainly a bold one and not what one might associate with a company built on quietness. But with this Lexus LC 500, the company may have given its slash-y design language a purpose.

The most recent Lexus model to adopt the sharp-edged look was the 2016 RX, and I still haven't gotten entirely over its enormous new mouth. Yet I understand why the LC looks this way. After all, there's a 5.0-liter V8 behind the grille and if the high-performance Lexus GS F is any indication, the engine has something to shout about.

Part of the issue with the Lexus slashes have been the cars they've been applied to. After all, the ES and GS are upright and practical by nature. The NX and RX crossovers need to be tall to hold people and things. This aggressive look has always seemed best suited for sporty performance cars, and up until now the RC coupe has been the closest thing. Yet it all seems to gel here. Even if you're not a fan of the large grille up front, I will argue the side and rear angles have that right performance coupe look to them.

And can you imagine what the F version of this will look like?

Sure, the LC is likely to be expensive when it goes on sale. But the fact it looks like this as a production car is undoubtedly going to wow kids who are into cool things that sound fast. Kids from, let's say, 7 to 70.

If there's anything I don't like about that LC "F" already, it's not the predator grille. It's the side profile. More specifically, the area near the rear side window.

Manual transmissions are not just for sports cars. My IS300 has a manual transmission and it's no sports car. Luxury GTs like Aston Martins, MBs, big BMWs, and Jaguars used to have manual transmissions. For me, all fun cars, and this definitely is a fun car, should be available with manual transmissions. Just like the LF-A should have had one available, too. But I can't afford any of those either so whether they have one or not is moot.

An early drive of the new Lexus LC 500 reveals that the company’s claims for bigger thrills are far from the usual marketing talk.

Motor Trend had the opportunity to test a prototype of the new LC 500 in the Laguna Seca and Willow Springs tracks, revealing that the new Lexus is indeed engineered to be a proper sports car.

Koji Sato, chief engineer of the new LC 500 also revealed that Lexus benchmarked the BMW 6-Series during the development but they also wanted to add the emotional experience of a Maserati into the mix, creating their own unique blend of a sports car.

Based on a new platform which is even stiffer than the carbon one of the LFA supercar, the new Lexus LC 500 uses a 5.0-litre V8 producing 467hp which is mated to a brand new 10-speed automatic from Aisin, making it capable for a 0-60mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

Let’s hope that this is the model which will lead Lexus into a new era when it hits the market in late 2016.

BMW does not seem to be interested in dropping the manuals from their more interesting cars, like some of the 3ers and 4ers and all of the M-Cars except for the SUVs.

As we all know, the manual transmission is on its way out. Even the most sporting of car makers are ridding themselves of the manual trans in most models. Even BMW and its famed M Division have said that the manual could be phased out soon. And this is unfortunate, obviously. Us enthusiasts are fans of three pedal gearboxes.

Photochopper X-Tomi Design has created a possible Lexus LC F using elements of the GS F and RC F, and the results are spectacular. The LC design certainly lends itself to the F look, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this rendering was mostly correct if/when the LC F is revealed.

(The only real rumors surrounding the potential LC F are now over a year old — in 2014, Motor Trend reported that the high-performance coupe would be powered by a twin-turbo 600 horsepower V8.)

Lexus LC 500 rendered for GT3 and drift

It seems that independent artists are already playing around with official pics of the recently introduced Lexus LC 500.

Lexus managed to impress most of us by making the production-ready LC look pretty much like a concept, so it’s no surprise the car is getting a lot of attention these days.

London-based YasidDESIGN was among the first to take a stab at rendering the coupe and the end result is a hypothetical GT3 version featuring a wider body and a large rear wing to boost downforce. There’s also a prominent front splitter made from carbon fiber, a vented hood, and a stiffer suspension that makes the car look as if it’s glued to the road.

The other render comes from Khyzyl Saleem and according to him the idea behind this virtual project is to turn the LC 500 into a “missile.” The high-performance coupe has been transformed into a drift machine and seems to have been bruised considerably while going sideways.

Getting back to the real world, the Lexus LC 500 is currently on display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and is scheduled to go on sale later this year. It has what it takes to become the company’s halo car by combining a gorgeous design with impressive performances.

Available on the all-new Lexus LC 500 model, the specially tuned MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport ZP tires were designed to contribute significantly to handling and performance. The tire sizes for the Lexus LC 500 are 245/40R21 for the front and 275/35R21 for the rear.

(The LC 500 on display at the Detroit Auto Show was actually equipped with a new Michelin tire concept that incorporated some Lexus design cues and Premium Touch technology. It’s unusual to notice a tire during a new vehicle debut, but the matte finish really stood out.)
