Ahhh but maybe my "like" statement was ironic!

![]() I think you mean Blizzaks lol Get winter tires. As already stated General Altimax is a tremendous value. Last year I ran a set of BFG Winter Slalom, and they did great. This year I have some Nokian Hakkas, and what tiny bit of snow we had was easy as hell to deal with. Here I am last year on a track. ![]() This year I'm even lowered. I don't know why anybody who lives in an area which sees snow or lower temperature doesn't have winter tires.

I am not a profession or anything... But I had Michelin Premier A/S installed on my stock rims. Couple inches of snow frozen driveways and street not cleaned up at all. No problem with accelaration and brakes. I feel way better now with the Michelin Premier A/S. Good luck

we had some snow this morning, few CMs but I left early enough in the morning where there was a thin sheet of snow on the roads.
the looks on peoples faces when they see me pass them in a small RWD coupe is priceless.. don't think the snow even impacted my commute time Michelle XICE for the win! |

It's pretty harsh here too. Went to lunch and it was 50f and sunny. I almost took my jacket off!

I did fine on Blizzaks last year, so far no snow yet in Philly this year. Don't forget the trick to reset your auto window indexing if (when) it get's stuck and stops closing all the way when you shut the door. Key on, engine off, hold window down button until window opens all the way and makes click sound, then hold window up button until window closes all the way and makes a click sound.

Im driving my BRZ this winter too and winter tires is a must. I kept looking on kijiji and found a nice set of Blizzak WS80 that were on someones bmw for less that half the retail cost and thread depth of just over 10/32. So far, I'm liking these on the BRZ.

I have a question for 86 drivers who use winter tires: did you buy another set of wheels for winter tires or do you swap tires on your regular wheels? And what was your rationale?

I use winter tires on stock wheels. It's cheaper than buying new wheels just to get salted.

Even I put my winter tires on my stock rims. And in summer, I will get a nice set of rims and some sticky tires, that way I will have two sets for winter and summer each.

I bought my winter tires used, and they came on some old STI wheels. I kept them on the STI wheels.

I've bought two new sets of wheels and tires for my GT86. Summer: Enkei Fujin 17x7.5 w/ Michelin Pilot Super Sport 225/45R17 Winter: SvF Le Mans 16x7 w/ Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 215/55R16 studless So I have chosen to go a little wider than stock in summer for a little more grip, and 16" in winter for a little more comfort. Stock wheels sits in the shed because I might need them some day. |
