Hi! I'm here researching first New car purchase. My current car is my college car an oldsmobile intrigue. 215hp, 230 torque. Quite a beast. I think it's reviewed to having a 7.7 second 0-60 time. Was dirt cheap when I got it.
I am currently looking between 4 cars, the two primary are the BRZ and the mustang v6/eco. The other two are the new mini clubman and the mazda6. I really really want to want the BRZ. But the torque dip has me concerned. I doubt I'll track it and I don't want to push it's handling limits on public roadways. Last thing I need is to lose the tail in traffic. I like coming up to the speed limit quickly. I think a mustang may fit the bill better. Plus I take a road trip to Michigan once a year in the summer. Usually have 1 or 2 other people with me. Stang has more room and might be more comfortable for what it is. All that being said, I'm infatuated with the BRZ. Its looks. The whole idea behind it. I just don't think I can exploit it. Or know enough to recognize it's excellence. I have had supposivly very good craft beers and they tasted like crap to me. |

Which is practical for you? Which one puts a smile on your face when you drive it? Practical + road trips with more than one person may eliminate the brz (unless one of your friends is an amputee). Don't worry about torque dips or 1/4 mile times, for most of us, that will never really matter. Personally, I like being able to take a cloverleaf 25MPH off ramp at 50MPH on stock tires. Getting to 140 faster than the next guy just isn't part of my daily commute. For the record, getting sideways is, but only after it's been raining. :-) Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk |

I really can't picture how bad the back seats really are on a BRZ. I do need to see if in person. But the problem is I want a MT, but I have only driven one a few Times. I don't think someone would let me test drive one basically not knowing exactly how to drive one. And there is no place in NJ that sells an automatic brz. I looked. I may look for an FRS just to drive. That is the thing too, I am already faster at accelerating than almost anyone on the road from a stop with my current car. Pedal not even to the floor. Especially BMW drivers. Driving the ultimate driving machine like a grandma. If I'm behind people, I'm only as fast as the slowest person. |

Now, don't be expecting to be faster than everybody else at lights in these cars. You will be grossly disappointed. They are not a "slow" car but they certainly are not stop light warriors. Test drive an AT FRS to get the feel. The difference between a FRS and a BR are so minor they may as well not exist. Good luck in your search.

I just bought this '13 BRZ. I was going to go mustang, love the looks, but fell for the BRZ right off. Makes the Mustang feel like a brick when comparing handling. Definitely upgrade power after manufacture warranty expires though. Nothing extreme. No idea how to insert a pick of mine.

Is that white or silver? Looks nice! The lighter color brings out the curves and contrasts.
