I'd love to hear what sort of luxury people talk about being without in a fully loaded BRZ that is also a dedicated sports car?

We talking baby seal skin seats and ivory door handles or shift boots made from the privates of a wholly mammoth?

Perhaps mine is just special or something. If I drop the back seats down I can hear the occasional squeak of the foam rub against each other (either side the spare wheel), but to be honest not much more. Its pretty tight and nothing really rattles unless driving along a really rough road.

Not long prior to the BRZ we did have an S15 / 200SX in the family and perhaps that experience lowered my expectations or changed what I perceived as an acceptable amount of noise in the car.

My own perception of luxury is digital stereo, reversing camera, sat nav, apple car play, blue tooth, keyless entry/start, car alarm, electric folding mirrors, electric windows, partial leather/heated seats, HID head lights, LED tail lights, frameless mirror, flappy paddle auto, digital speedo, leather steering wheel, leather cabin accents, climate control / split zone aircon.

None of the above were on a 5.0L VT Holden commodore I bought in Australia only 20 years ago for $45k AUD. Compared to that car this thing is the epitome of luxury to me and was 5k cheaper.

I went from a stock 11' TSX manual to a stock 16' BRZ manual (still waiting on delivery (:-(

Same HP (200), TSX made more torque (170ish) at higher revs.

Congrats! Your old TSX looks nice and clean. Any plans for the BRZ?

I am with you on all points.
Other than when it hits minus 10 or so I have no rattles, squeaks or other noises in the car. When it gets really cold I do get some weird sounds but so does any other car I have ever owned.

My father in law's Infiniti Q50 Sport didn't have a pile more things than a fully loaded BRZ and it was almost twice the price. The things it did have were almost useless and never used anyway. All those gadgets and toys are cool if you actually use them but valueless if you don't.
The same with the guys that complain about all the "cheap looking" plastic in the interiors. I have been in several luxury cars that use the same materials yet nobody call it cheap.

Maybe comfort is a better word. My '16 limited has all the bells and whistles that my wife's '14 tdi golf does (other than torque and a sunroof, but who needs those?), but its a helluva lot less comfortable. The subie rides like an ox cart and sounds like a lawnmower, the golf is a fair bit smoother and quieter. I know which one I like better, but its a different equation for everyone.

Yep, if anybody buys one of these cars for a quiet and soft ride they made a grave error in judgment. Not what it was envisioned, designed nor built for and to compare it to ones that are is meaningless (not talking about you there Wrec just buyers in general). There are cars out there that offer these things but you sacrifice other aspects in order to gain them.

Thanks guys. Here's some background and comparisons.

1. There shouldn't really be a comparison - one is a entry luxury family "sports" sedan. One is a light weight sports car.

2. I went from tsx to brz because I'm young and figured if I wanted something stick shift and impractical, nows the time

With that said. Here's the comparison

1. Tsx has hid headlights stock, but they are not bi-xenon
2. Tsx tail lights are not LEDs. In fact, none of the exterior lights are LEDs
3. My tsx is the base version and not the tech package. So it has no navi or backup camera
4. Tsx side mirror folds down when I reverse, which is nice
5. I thought the dash material on the tsx was pretty cheap. And the base screen showing radio info and stuff was super basic. Brz with the infotainment screen is awesome.
6. 2016 brz didn't come with nav, I did not know this oh well I use my phone most of the time anyways
7. Bluetooth audio on both cars
8. Both cars have the same hp but tsx has 20 more tq. but it's couple hundred pounds heavier
9. Still breaking in the car so I haven't pushed it yet :p
10. Seats hugs so nicely in the brz. But that's more of sports seats vs regular seats. The leather in the Acura isn't that impressive. Some parts get wrinkles after a short time
11. Seats fold down for both cars. Obviously one has way more storage than the other
12. Tsx has no keyless entry or push start
13. Tsx can remotely roll all windows down. Great for summer time
14. Floor mounted acceleration pedal in tsx
15. Has stock blue footwell lighting in tsx
16. Gauge colors are very nice in the tsx. Also has a floating needle tachometer
17. Gauge in brz isn't bad. Better than the 370z that I've considered. But I wish when I shift into 5th gear the 5 doesn't look like a 6 on the gauge.
18. Tsx shows more than one info at a time. Like mileage, mpg, etc. brz I have to toggle
19. Shift boot and e brake boot is super nice in the brz
20. stock battery is tiny in the tsx
21. Cabin is definitely louder in the brz. But that's a given
22. No sunglasses slot in the brz
23. Electric seats adjustment vs manual
24. Dual climate control in both cars
25. Neither cars have electric folding mirrors. Have to manually pop it
26. Both have leather wrap steering wheel. Although tsx has stero controls
27. Both take 91 gas
28. Oil filter placement in the brz?!? Love it!
29. Tsx as a whole seems more grown up and luxury. But brz has comparable features.
30. Both have ass warmer
