How good is Motul Ecolite 0W20? I tend to do a lot of spirited driving and I'm due for an oil change I plan to do myself. Random question for the random users with random thoughts.

Looks to be very high quality, skimmed a few threads/posts.

I'm probably just going to stick to TGMO or maybe try out royal purple when I start doing it myself.

1st dealership exp was awesome, second, they put a major scratch on the roof's clear coat along with oiled finger prints on the a-pillar. Didn't see it until the morning

It's an option and I'm considering it too since I've heard of someone's engine fail from spun bearings running 0W20.

I'm not too knowledgeable on oils, but most of what my cars is mundane street driving as well as spirited accelerations getting on the freeway.

I also plan to do some canyon runs in the future.

What would be your advice and what are the advantages of running 5W30 over 0W20? All I can recall is that the BRZ manual recommends it for high performance driving.

Pretty sure by that, they mean frequent auto-x or track.

I'm still low mileage at 11.5k but pretty much did spirited mountain/canyon/backroad drives every 2 weeks from June to mid november and car is still running fine.

Why not bring your question over to the tech section? I'm sure you'll get more answers than here. haha

It's an issue with temperature and pressure. If you regularly run your oil above 240ish F, you should switch to heavier oil, as the pressure with 0W-20 is insufficient for extended durations at that temperature. If you don't drive above that oil temp frequently, it's not hugely necessary.

2 games, 2 goals in 2 wks. Ending great this season of indoor soccer. Cardio workout is working well to prep for this season... but still not enough stamina. I guess, I'll be running more. Now big question is, am I gonna recover from tonight's injury before next game?

I keep telling myself that I am going to start running again.

Then this Toblerone bar and my bed becomes more appealing.

My goal to live to age 80+ is not going to be achieved.

Here's a good thread on the issue.

For me personally, I'd switch to 5W30 for a track day, but in daily driving I rarely see my oil temps above 220F.

5w30 is also recommend by Toyota Germany for daily.

after 1 lap Nordschleife my oil temps on 0w20 way over 240°F
