Loud exhaust/header combination
Hey guys,
I currently do not own a brz or frs, but I plan on purchasing a brz sometime within the next few months as my civic si (fa5) is currently up for sale. On my Si, I have a skunk2 76mm exhaust and skunk2 megapower header as well as a hybrid racing cold air intake, so it's really loud and I love it. I was hoping to get some feedback from you guys who may possibly have heard this setup on a civic before and if there is a exhaust and header setup made for the brz that is just as loud as my current setup. I have heard a sound clip of the Invidia n1 paired with a Tomei UEL header and Berk front pipe. This sounds pretty damn loud but I'm not sure if this video is overdoing it or not. I'll post links to this video as well as to what the skunk2 exhaust/header setup sounds like! I second this, we briefly ran that set up with the resonator cut out ( to clear the fuel cell) a nameless header and a compression bump. That car was the loudest damn thing I've ever heard.

2) The biggest contributors to volume on the 86 are the cat in the header and the catback. A catless header will increase volume substantially. Pair that with a loud catback and there you go. 3) The brand of header you choose won't really make a difference in volume, so get what fits your budget and goals. 4) The overpipe has very little effect on volume. 5) The front pipe can change the noise in a couple ways. Removing the cat in the FP will increase volume a little. Adding resonators will reduce the high-frequency "raspyness" of the exhaust note and produce a smoother, fuller sound. 6) The go-to exhausts for pure volume on the 86 are the Invidia N1 (pretty loud) and Tomei 80R (LOUD NOISES). |

If all you want is to have a loud exhaust, I'd say go with the Tomei 60R single-exit exhaust and an uncatted EL -
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2ehqQy8Zw0"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2ehqQy8Zw0[/ame] I don't endorse this per se, but you will get a lot of weight saving out of the Tomei exhaust - which is also of great quality (full titanium) at a competitive price-point (I love my Tomei 60S). |

I'm not necessarily looking for it to sound like the civic, I'm just looking for that level of loudness. Also, I should've mentioned this earlier, but I'm looking for that typical subaru boxer engine "rumble" that you typically hear from STI's, and the Invidia n1 paired with a UEL header is the closest thing I've heard to that so far (at least judging by youtube sound clips)

comingThis reminds me when the twins first came out and I put a UEL header as one of my first mods. For the first year subbi guys would always stare and people would ask me what engine I swapped into my Toyota LMAO!! |

It's really not hard to make these cars ignorantly loud. 12.5:1 compression helps.
