TSB

I brought my car in today and the dealer did the TSB with out giving me
any grief. I plan on taking it on the highway a few times this weekend.

Well, got the scheduled maintenance done and asked the service rep about the TSB.

He gave me no issues or didn't even ask any questions. Said there is indeed a TSB out and gave the green light. Unfortunately, all the techs went home and had to get it scheduled for the 2nd.

Was pleasantly surprised there was no push back on getting the work done.

I did 4 hwy runs and put it in manual mode at each exit ramp with 0 problems. Car rev matched perfectly.

Yea, I've had it for about 6 weeks now no rev matching issues anymore and it's smooth as silk, I hope there isn't any lasting long term damage from those shifting screw ups though

Hmmm thanks... I'm going in for a first service on my FR-S soon, I've noticed the occasional rev match issue, so will probably mention the TSB and see if it will do anything.

They had the issue however there's an even lower chance your dealer will even bother to flash it

Yeah, what he said. Since the TSB specifically mention 2015's, I dunno if they will bother with earlier MYs. Doesn't hurt to try though.

Yea, printing the out the TSB seemed to really help though, the service advisors seem to have a lot more respect for trying it when they see you took initiative to print it out

Update!

Got the TSB work done on the car today. Drove it for almost 200 miles, mix of mostly highway, some city, some backroads. Did all of the tests listed in the various threads that would cause the hard shifting/heavy engine braking/non-rev matching/etc. issues - driving normally as before all this started! I did as spirited driving (beating the piss out of the poor thing) as I could without getting in trouble or attracting too much attention to myself, no issues returned. Also, no more idle hunting!

I'll continue to monitor for a few more days to a week, just hope everything keeps being ok. Maybe its just in my head but manual shifts and full auto shifts seem to be more snappy than before.

Below is what they wrote. It states that they flashed the ECU but pretty sure they meant TCM... Btw for anyone in the future who are having these issues, don't mention anything else except for idle hunt. I tried explaining the other issues and they were confused as hell...

Lastly, huge thanks to everyone who participated in all of the associated threads. This was extremely helpful in resolving this issue, hopefully once and for all!

NICE! I noticed the snappiness as well, I'll upload what was put on my receipt as well on Tuesday or Wednesday when I get back home. Hopefully Subaru and older 2013s and 14s are allowed to get this flashed as well.
