Sooo I'm in Vegas and it's hot but there are plenty of PYTs walking around because of EDC.

EDC = 25years & younger.

Pac-Man vs Bradley = 25years & older.

Seems like the general consensus. Can't wait for the fight tomorrow.

Oh, and can any young blood chime in and tell me why EDC is so popular?

The resurgence of EDC has to do with the popularity of house music and dubstep. As to why? No idea. More big name artists producing in that field got popular around the 2005-2007 period.

If I drive there
Pro - Less money spent
Con - Long drive

hard decision...
Depends on how long are you planning to stay there. If you are going only for a few days, and no time for the driving (2 days, go and back), then fly. Otherwise, if you have company to be with you on the long drive, driving is not that bad for that route (assuming you are going to LA). The route to San Francisco (I-80) is very boring.

Me personally, I would choose drive if time permits.

I just saw an orange Lamborghini Aventador parked at Chipotle. I learned two things:

1) Even the super rich love Chipotle

2) I need to make a hell of a lot more money

Student today told me about AKB48 J-pop band. Apparently the #1 girl got 11 million votes, and unlike American Idol you can only vote one time for each CD you buy (CDs? Still?) and some otaku were buying hundred to pick their favourite girl. Also the girls only rate a 'so-so' in the looks, singing and dancing ability. Japanese pop culture continues to baffle me...

Hmmm.. Ooshima Yuuko got 108,837 votes, not 11 million votes. Apparently, your student is confused with the term million with 10,000 (万). Here is a link from one of the fan page.

Yes, IIRC the vote came with the CD so you really need to buy the CD in order to vote.

PS: and I agree with you on their looks or performances.

That brings the numbers down to sensibility. Sort of. She was adamant than some guys were so obsessed thst they bought over a hundred CDs to vote.

Still pretty insane system to pay to vote for the lead girl of a 48 member pop band...

I have no question about that. You should've asked: if those otaku's instead of buying AKB48 CD's but pay you 10 yen a piece, would you be happy?

Hmm.. let's bring up the numbers:

Fly: flight: 200+ dollars. One week rental car: 400+ dollars. Need to pay gas on the rental car.

Drive: total mileage: about 2000 miles (2*700 miles road trips plus some odd miles in LA). Still need to pay gas on your car.

Does your 20 hours of your time worth 600+ dollars? If so, fly. Otherwise, drive. (10 hours extra if you drive one way)

In the interest of cultural exchange I introduced a different student to Tom Green's 'Slutmobile'.

hmmm I came to the realization that MR-S Spyders are f***ing awesome, at least in theory 2ZZ swap would be amazing.

What I can't stop thinking about is the possibility of attaching sort of strakes and "spoiler" to the top to cut the drag down, kinda like a fastback hardtop but missing most of the glass. The great thing about mid engine is that the side intakes let you vent air straight into the wake that most cars have no way of dealing with at all.

They will out handle and out fun an FR-S. Kill it with speed when swapped with a sensible motor, and maybe even get better mileage with the 2ZZ.

However their practicality is laughable, and they look like an adrogenous juvenile boxster.

And should have been a coupe.

2ZZ + 6 speed swap + supercharger + long final drive (so the tires don't go up in a cloud of smoke, and so the fuel economy is bonkers at something like 13% longer 6th gear ratio than the original). The thought makes me drool. Fuel economy would probably match a 1st gen Prius too.

As far as practicality goes, I dunno. Never got to use a car before, so I've gotten used to carrying just a backpack and nothing more. I'm pretty sure a few grocery bags will fit in the cubbies right? I see the Spyder as a safer and (a little more) practical motorbike lol.
