If they sell more of them because they offer an automatic, be happy for that. It means more aftermarket support and a better chance that more cars like this will be made in the future.

Just because it's not your personal preference, why should anyone complain that you can get an automatic. Don't like it? Don't buy one.

The only way that will really make the AT = Manual speed acceleration wise is if you did a 4.88 or 5.1 final drive swap

Y'know, here we go again.

I'd go in on you, once again, but I'll refrain. I can enjoy my car just as much with an AT as someone with an MT. The only difference is, I have to listen to people who are over compensating be condescending towards me. I'm gunna autox my car this coming year and I'll have a blast coming in at the bottom 25%. But who knows, maybe I'll spank some people who drive manual and then I can laugh my ass off at them for losing to a lowly automatic driver

I drive an M/T and though I will rib people and make jokes about it, I say I don't give a shit about what tranny is behind your FA20. Just enjoy the damn car.

I'll race ya! At least one of us won't be last...

So, if I slap 300hp on my AT does that mean the car will STILL be slow/not fun.

Its about 70 pounds heavier compared to MT, and also, although slower, not by much. .9th of a second from 0-60 (on paper it's about 2 seconds slower, but based on what drivers report here, more like a second if that.)

the automatic shifting isn't that bad either, from what I read.

that siad, MT all the way though

I'd say drive one if you can. It's a really good transmission for being a slush box. Great compromise if you ask me. I think most of the problem is that people think it's a gearbox from a 1980's Camry and immediately think it's trash, but I can honestly say I prefer it to my co-workers Evo X auto tranny.

Someone called to get ban hammered? If not, please keep yourself chill... just like my office ATM. My drink is frozen now!

But seriously, not in the mood

I sort of think that people do equate all ATs with "slush boxes". The autos in these cars are far from being "slush boxes" really. They are finely tuned and with the computer controls are so far from the old tech they really should have a different designation then automatic.
Go jump in an old Chevy with a 2 speed Powerglide tranny to experience the true meaning of "slush box".

Gonna agree with Tcoat. I think the AT in the FRS/BRZ are really quick and crisp compared to the AT in other cars...

I love my AT, and my car is slow.

I drove my moms 2015 RAV4. It also has a six speed auto with a sport mode in it. It is nowhere close to the twins AT. Same with a 2015 Chrysler 200S I had as a rental. 8 speed auto with paddle shifters and it's absolutely junk.

This is leaps and bounds ahead of most every other slush box.

I was waiting for a mod to come do something. Did my gif get taken down because it broke the rules?
