Questions about RAAMMat from RAAMAudio

Did some reading up on this product, but I still have some questions:

1. Should I get Package #1 or Package #2 for my BRZ if i want to do doors, trunk and below the passenger seat? Their description says Package #1 should take care of doors, rear wall and rear sides. This leads me to believe it might not be enough if I want to deaden the spare tire area as well.

2. There are "sale" prices on their website right now, is there an actual sale going on or is this what their prices normally are?

3. If I do my trunk (so all the space around the spare tire) and under my passenger seat, should that be enough to noticeably block exhaust noise?

I have an aftermarket exhaust so its pretty loud in the cabin. I love how it sounds as I go through the gears, but it gets annoying on long highway cruises. Mainly looking to cut down on exhaust noise and eliminate vibrations before I upgrade the speakers and amp.

I'll elaborate in about an hour when I'm off work, but raamat is not going to solve a loud exhaust issue.

Also keep in mind, buying ensolite for anything other than putting it in between panels that are rattling is a waste. The website lies, ensolite is not capable of diffusing sound in the audible frequency spectrum, it's too thin. It's only effective above 22,000hz.

Also, I need clarification if there is an exhaust drone or if it's just loud.

Ah.. damn. So basically these products would only eliminate noise caused by the actual metal panels rattling, and not actually "block" noise created from other sources?

Pretty much. The foam materials are only useful for preventing to panels from vibrating against each other causing rattles.

Cld materials (raamat, dynamat etc) reduce panel resonance at the panels natural resonance. Ie, the frequency you would hear if you tapped the panel.

That said, if you have an exhaust drone, cld materials can reduce that, because drones heard in the cabin are usually panels vibrating. You'll know you have a drone when it only happens over a very narrow rpm range. Speeding up or slowing down will eliminate it. In that case, I'd recommend Knukonceptz Kolossus. It's the same price per square foot as the packages listed above, for just a cld, but that cld performs 4x as well as raamat.

If it's just a loud exhaust and not a drone, the only way to quiet it is a mass loaded barrier. This is something like mass loaded vinyl or lead sheet decoupled by thin foam on both sides. That has to have 100% coverage on all panels below the window line to truly be effective. It's also heavy, as your adding just over a pound per square foot.

Okay so my issue is definitely with the drone. I end up driving above 5K RPM sometimes just to avoid the drone. I prefer 5-7K over 2-4K since thats where the drone is. Opening the window also kills a lot of the drone that bothers me. So I guess that reinforces the likelihood that I'm dealing with noise from panel resonance?

I'll look into Knukonceptz. First time hearing of it.

Amazon usually has good prices on it. On the last pages of the sound deadening sticky on this forum there should be measurements of how it performs posted.
