Last year I decided to partake in what could be called the start of a male fantasy. I pulled a swift U-turn twice to give a hand once to a woman on the side of the highway and once to a stranded woman and her teenage daughter.
What exactly is a Lumina? What exactly is a Concorde? Sounds like under 20mpg. |

I never realized quite how much attention this car gets but I've been having these encounters on a weekly basis (in winter no less, as mild as it may be).
Friday night, I'm on my way home after a night out, probably around 2:30 am. I'm cruising at 110 km/h and come up on a black Camaro doing 90. I think nothing of it, switch into the left lane to pass, get 10-20 m ahead of the guy and think to get back over. Nope, as I look in my mirror to change lanes, I see him flying up to and past me. OK fine, I'll pull in behind you (middle lane) if you suddenly want to do 140. Camaro now brakes to 90 again which means I catch up to him in a hurry (sigh), left lane again it is. Camaro now paces me in the middle lane, downshifts, nails the throttle, brakes. Does this a couple times before realizing I didn't have the time of day for him. Finally goes away and can't or won't maintain a single speed because I catch up to him a couple more times down the road. Pretty sure there was a white FR-S behind me the whole time; I saw the female passenger give me quite a long look as that car passed me onto another highway later on (DVP NB to 404 NB). |

...Had two today, only one was noteworthy the other was your basic driver not wanting to let you pass because of... reasons (???)... I guess...
The notable was with a SUV driver from Pennsylvania who was annoyed I was going 55 in a 55... in the right lane - now I drive this road every day as part of my commute and know that around the bend there's generally a cop car 75% of the time - we turn the bend and there's no cop but we both stop at a red light shortly thereafter. When we get to the light the car bro revs up hard and takes off... Only for us to meet 30 seconds later at a second red light... At the second light car bro does the same thing, revs and takes off... And 30 seconds later... It's me and him sitting at a third red light ![]() At this point I can't imagine car bro is happy, since these red lights are really cramping his style! And he needs to show me who's boss! Not to be deterred car bro revs and takes off after red light three and opens up a bit of distance... ...Only to have to break hard and rapidly slow down a short while later, as up ahead is a "circle" (a common road feature in NJ but not common elsewhere in the U.S. and virtually unused in Pennsylvania) and at the speed he was going he would have been unable to safely take the turn... I on the other hand catch up to Car Bro as he's breaking and instead of slowing down, keep my speed steady, and power through the circle leaving Car Bro in a puddle of his rage-induced tears (what I would have given to see Car Bro's face as I passed him)... As a final piece of karma after the circle there is another light, I managed to get the green but by the time Car Bro clunked through the turn the light had turned red... That was the last I saw of Car Bro. --- |

In my neck of the woods, I call that my personal drift circle.
Who am I kidding, I'll probably crash within the first 5 seconds. |
