You can see it from the engine bay.

![]() This one in particular was ceramic coated by the owner, but the new versions will have a "FT86SpeedFactory" tacked on one of the runners. So if you have an inspector who knows what they are looking for, its a pretty big giveaway. Doesn't mean you can't swap your stock headers in during inspection...

I'd rather think of making some simple fake cover above it first before swapping back to stock

You will get a cel regardless of cat, so I would suggest just diving into a catless header like the tomei or Gruppe-S, and get a ECUTEK tune, and it might end up cheaper than the ft86 header plus OFT tune. |

Has anyone tried this with a Perrin 3" resonated cat-back? Any CELs?

You won't get a cel with a catback.

Luckly the OFT tunes are open so just disable the P0420 cel code in the stage 1 tune (for catted header) = no more CEL code. About 5 minutes, if you having a beer while doing it :-)

CEL code for CAT efficiency is P0420 It very likely your cel is due to your intake throwing off fuel trims/or AFR causing rich/lean CEL codes. next time it come up read the code. |

you either have an exhaust leak, stuffed o2 sensor or your primary CAT is actually stuffed, if you track cars or drive them hard enough its possible to overheat and disintegrate the primary cat in header. It the only one monitored by ECU. It also possible that your intake (assume its untuned as you would have disable CEL in tune) is throwing of the fueling enough to be causing the cat efficiency cel as well. The ECU derives that cel from comparing the reading from the primary and secondary o2 sensors either side of the primary cat in the header, abnormal reading caused by missing or damaged cat, fueling way off exhaust leaks etc will cause it. never heard of anyone getting that cel from a catback. YES its possible to get this cel with ANY aftermarket CATTED header as the readings are different from stock cat. A CATBACK by itself will not cause that P0420 cel |

A number of guys with tracked cars have completly blown out primary cat in header. With stock catted header you should not get the P0420 cel code unless something is wrong. If its an aftermarket catted header then yes P0420 is possible, as the aftermarket cat may not match the charasteristics of the stock cat in header. some people will never get the cel some will occasionally. |
