Finding a good 16" wheel is less of a problem than it is to find a decent selection of 16" rubber. 225/50 seems to be the best size to go, in order to get a decent selection. If you want to go wider, you'll probably be better off sticking with 17's, unfortunately. Fewer tires to choose from, and anything wider than a 225/50 really needs something wider than a 7" rim. There are a few wheels to choose from in 16x8, but either the offsets are too aggressive, or they are far heavier than they could/should be. |

1. Enkei Sport ES Tarmac 16X7 et 45mm (might be discontinued) 2. Enkei Sport ES Tarmac 16X8 et 45mm (also might be discontinued) 3. Work CR01 16X7.5 et 39mm 4. Work Seeker DX 16X7.5 custom et up to 50mm 5. Work Seeker FX 16X7.5 custom et up to 50mm 6. Work Seeker CX 16X7.5 custom et up to 50mm 7. Volk CE28N 16X7 et42mm Ronal has the aero-styled (which I like) R50 but the 16X7.5 weighs 21lbs! Centerline used to have a tuner line of 16" wheels but I can't find them on their website anymore... I would love to get and refurbish used BBS RS 3-piece wheels but I don't think they made them with 5X100 bolt circles. Ironically, the Volk is the lightest, most expensive, and probably the best quality but it also has the lowest load capacity rating of 520kg. The Enkeis are the cheapest and have the highest rating of 690kg but I read contradictory reports that the ES Tarmac line is discontinued and they are only selling current stock. Finally, the Work wheels are of mid-range price-wise and supposedly pretty good quality but I haven't been able to find out their weight and load ratings. The CR01 is a welded three-piece wheel so I will give it some leeway for extra porkiness just because I like 3-piece wheels.

If you consider Volk CE28N, why not TWS T66-F? (10.63lbs for 16x7 +48)

![]() But... 1. My fault for not mentioning, I was looking for an et closer to 40 because 225/50 will bulge out more than the stock 215/45-17 plus it's more flush. ![]() 2. I am not a big fan of the 5 pairs of spokes (vs. CE28N's 10 independent spokes) style |

Actually I think we're on the same page... I was referring to the lack of variety of sizes available in a 16" in a decent performance category. 225/50 seems to have the largest selection. I'd like to have a 245/45-16 on a 16x8 or 9, but there's no tires of interest in that size and no wheels that are worth spending the money on; they're either aggressive +25 offsets or more, or too heavy to make it worthwhile, or too expensive for my wallet. You can add the Motegi Traklites I'm running to your list, since it doesn't seem like you're looking for a particular style. 16x7 +40 and 12.5 pound for under $300/ea. I'm not a huge fan of the 5 spoke look, but they were ever so slightly used and a package deal with the tires and a screaming bargain as a result, so I pulled the trigger. I'm all about bang for my buck.

Yeah, they're forged, reasonably priced, and have a load rating close to OEM. It's stamped right on the side, so I'll post it up when I head out to my car... EDIT: Well, I thought it was stamped on the outside part of the wheel, but it's not. I remember seeing it somewhere though...I'm swapping out for my winter setup this weekend, so I'll take a closer look. Last edited by venturaII; 12-11-2015 at 10:40 PM. |

MrDinkleman: it (TWS) was mentioned more as lightest 16" that being made/sold now, not discontinued, and strong enough (IIRC forgery by Taneisha). I'm not sold by it's looks too, but functionality wise they seem to be THE wheels to have, except maybe too expensive for some.
