Because no new car can have a fully defeatebly abs and traction controll and be street legall.. The buttons might turn it down but not off fully. That's how he knows. Question is why are you mouthing off without thinking?
And please don't use Gtr as a eg since it is a much more expensive car and the gps turns (or enables the turning off) of all those things

I see only one automatic windows how much does it cost to put these things all the way around, a few cents? i mean c'mon. Also i love my car in the snow because it has no abs, the prospect this this will only be able to be partially defeated makes me angry. It just doesnt feel safe.

Question is why are you mouthing off without thinking? See, now that's funny. Why are you TALKING without thinking? The "fact" you just said is completely fabricated. There are no laws that traction, stability, and ABS not be fully defeatable...only that they be standard on cars. Including off switches is fully within the law, and making those off switches turn the features COMPLETELY off is entirely up to the manufacturer. Some choose not to.

The long and short of it is....there's tons of cars with fully defeatable traction and stability control. Cars with defeatable ABS are extremely rare, though I think there are a few rally type vehicles which offer it. The reason nobody offers defeatable ABS is because ABS has no downside unless you're attempting to drive rally style on dirt.

If you're going to snipe somebody and offer contrary information...you should probably check to see whether you're actually...you know....right.

Didn't I say that TCS can be turned completely off, but not by that little button over there?

Maybe I have only experienced Toyota cars, so I don't know that the world is sphere. But hey, Isn't it a Toyota?

True that there is no law about not having TCS and ABS completely off, but there is law that require to have them in every cars sell in the US.

Really? Which car can you COMPLETLY turn abs off in?
Turning dsc sort of fully off isn't a problem usually, unless you have a Merc in which case even if it iss fully off it's stil not :p (as demonstrated by twitchiness of many brabus models)

My first comment is in regards to ABS. ABS has many downsides, it ruins pedal "feel" and makes the pedal "spongy" reducing your "connection" with the brakes. And I'm not completely convinced it reduces braking distance with an experienced driver. But my personal experience was in a base 2wd manual Ranger vs some of the earlier modern mini-vans so not a great deal of experience here.

Having full defeatable electronic control systems is important to me as well. But I do believe there should be a cheat code for completely disabling electronic controls. And from the few cases I have heard there are cheat codes to disable aids if turning them off doesn't do so.

I'm convinced you're right. The case can also be applied for motorcycles.

the part about pedal feel is 100% accurate. my MR2 has no ABS, never has. i have driven numerous MR2's with ABS, and even with an otherwise identical brake setup, the pedal feel on my car is noticeably better than the ABS-equipped cars.

A lot of systems are completely disable-able. Just not with a magic button, and not always easy or easily reversible. In my car TEMS, ABS, and power-steering are gone. Disabling required tools. Re-abling will require replacement parts.

That being said a Lotus-type (on a Toyota ECU btw...) electronic slip % control system would be the way to go for a 'sport' mode.
