What to do about Clutch Knee - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

My last car had a mushy clutch but the FRS has a pretty stiff clutch in it and I sit in some pretty nasty traffic sometimes. Back of my knee is killing me. Is their some driving habbits I need to change, to ease up on the knee. Other day it actually buckled on me

Guess i can trade off with my wife every few days, taker her atuo Kia let her drive the stick and give my knee a rest

The military gave me some rough ankles and I too sometime debate about my clutch pedal.

The only way to change is to drive less but we all have to get to work some how. Would you ever think getting an auto? Or better yet. Just buy a cheap automatic beater to get to and from work. The FRS can be the weekend warrior

Work out? This is about the lightest clutch you'll ever drive.....

The FR-S clutch is stiff? It's as light as my Corolla.

If your FR-S is used, it may be worth finding out if yours had the clutch spring removed and/or if there is a heavier aftermarket clutch installed.

We just got the frs. It is used. I can just trade off with my wifes kia every few days. She has no traffic but she may not give me the car back. She loves that car

If the clutch is stiff, there might be something wrong with it, or an enterprising previous owner modded it.

Odds are that the spring has been removed since about 99% of the people on here find it way too light and vague when stock. Probably not a big deal to put it back.

One other thing that might be a contributing factor is that the clutch pedal height from the factory is very high, which can make it uncomfortable to use.

There is a 10-min DIY fix for this.

Squats are you best friend. Don't have a gym membership? Do lunges and air squats. If the back of your knee is killing you, sit closer so you're not extending your leg as far.

I too have problems with the tension in my knee but not with the car. Try a different seeing arrangement. Perhaps you are too close or too far. Try to keep your heel on the floor, should take nearly all tension off your knee

Was just going to mention this ^^^

Again, try changing seat adjustment. Similar to how parts of our suspension can fail from lowering the car by changing the angle of force. Maybe your leg is trying to be hella stance when it should be OEM
