Rainbow Six Siege

Has anyone been playing the beta?

The server issues have been a pain, but when it's working and people are playing as a team with mics I've had a lot of fun. I have it on preorder but I am thinking of cancelling and picking it up once the server issues are gone (doubt things will be fixed before launch).

Anyways if any one else is gonna pick it up for PS4 and plays with a mic add me. I am not the most skilled player, but I play with a team style, especially if other players have mics.

I made a video below of a match I had today, unfortunately no one had a mic but me and everyone ran off and did their own thing despite me trying to check the building and asking others to send their drones as well. In the end I had to just follow the dude with the diffuser.

Liked it but got bored of it quite fast, the level design, I find, limits the possibility of game modes and variance too much. In other words, everything felt the same after a few hours.

I played the beta. It was ok.... Was not a fan of how clunky the aiming and movement felt. The guns also looked like ass, not to mention the recoil on all the weapons were blah.

How's it compare to RB6 Vegas 2? Blander? More online-focused?

Also is there still couch co-op single player?

Been a while since I played vegas 2, but from what I remember Vegas 2 you are a little more mobile. And in this R6S you don't go into third person like you did in R6V2

Yes way more online focused but it still has t hunt.

I believe there is single player co op.

-------------------------------------------

This game is an absolute blast to play, the learning curve is definitely there and the beginning is rough especially when you come from CS;GO. Now, I'm level 22, and I carry almost every game -- ranked and casual. the game is very methodological and technical and if you don't ingrain this in your brain when you play you will be screwed. Slow and steady wins the race, the people who sprint around the whole map and don't check corners are the ones that die first. They give you a lot of time for each round and you should be using it all. It may seem repetitive but every round is different, in a theoretical aspect. The operators you and the other team chooses, the walls that are fortified, the nitrocells, shields, barbed wire laid down all differ from the round before that and it's up to you to notice these differences and adapt accordingly. It might seem repetitive, but it's no more repetitive than League or CS:GO Competitive etc.

I will say however, that there is very little focus on the objectives in this game at least in multiplayer. Most people are just going for the kills and rarely (i think i've only seen it 3 or 4 times) do people go for the objectives.

But damn it is such a great game and I recommend it.

I'm absolutely hooked. If you can get 5 people mic'd up together it changes everything. It feels a lot like old school PC days where it doesn't hold your hand at all and the learning curve is pretty steep.

10/10 would play again.

I enjoyed the beta and am still enjoying the full game. I have all the operators and have played them all a decent amount but I still feel it suffers from ~3 must haves per team and the rest are just kind of there.

I also can't find a defender who's playstyle/armor level/special that I really like whereas I have multiple offense characters that I really enjoy. Like Special K said, having teammates with mics makes all the difference.

I liked it but felt it became too repetitive too fast, not a whole lot of variance to it.

That's exactly how my friends and I felt; I was super excited about the game but I think RB6V-V2 were much better

Lots of games are "repetitive" though. the 27 million people who play league are literally doing the same thing that's done in r6 siege.

League: 3 lanes and a jungle
R6: 3 floors and a rooftop

League: multiple champs with different perks
R6: multiple operators with different perks

League: ranking system from bronze to challenger
R6: ranking system from silver to diamond

I mean, we talk about repetitiveness, but when the Tom Clancy franchise (or any franchise) changes a game up we hate it. We want the old rainbow six's for nostalgia sake, but it's going to be the same damn game as before but this time with different graphics. If that isn't repetitive I don't know what is.

And developers are salivating off of how dumb we are because we hate change and they release the same games installation after installation (see every EA sports game, every run and gun, every remastered game that's come out thus far)

THATS repetition, and a more costly one because I'd rather spend 60 bucks on one "repetitive" game than 180 on a whole repetitive, refurbished series.

Those were definitely classics. Siege is a lot more true to Raven Shield and Athena Sword than any of the other newer iterations. I honestly couldn't stand Vegas 3rd person high intensity gameplay, and prefer the more methodical approach to these type games.

I'd say you need to add your own variance to it. Play as operators you wouldn't expect, run a whole shield team, leave the bomb site and rush the attackers while they're still outside, etc. Even though the main objective stays the same, it gives you free reign to approach it however you want. We've done the standard single access point incursion, and we've also blown 7 walls simultaneously just to give ourselves a unique experience.

But hey, it's not for everyone, good thing there's a fuckton of good games out now.

^Definitely this. Fortunately I have a group of around 12 guys on at any given time, so having a full team with mics is easy. We've even done custom match 5v5s and had a blast just screwing around. If I were just playing solo I'd have dropped it after a day.
