The mechanic told me didn't touch the diff and tranny. But if he did I am pretty sure they don't need topping up. And the tires were not rotated.
The mumbo-jumbo on the invoice is generic static noise to make it look like they are doing a lot (for the $115 per hour ) because looking at parts does not take long. And servicing brakes that do not need it will take up enough time to explain the end amount. I was also surprised they changed the air filter and cabin filter. I can't imagine them being very dirty. And adding a bottle of fuel treatment is also a bit of a waste I think.

So much misinformation to customers coming from them. I told them off so they may not like the "Slick" name. That invoice seems grossly excessive for what amounts to about an hour's worth of work. They will argue that it's a standard service charge and even if you wanted some stuff skipped, they still needed to perform a full inspection. They also can't measure very well because 7mm worth of tire tread left equals 8-9/32nds which means you are using about 1/32" of tread per week and at that rate you'll need to see me in a month or so for new tires, lol. @ Guru
You were fleeced and screwed!!!
Stealerships are arrogant and don't give a sh!t about us. They may as well be a Fed or Prov Government department - they take your money and don't produce a product. I serviced my own brakes on the Yaris, when I put on my own snows,i n about 5min per wheel and used one can of brake cleaner, some lithium grease, anti-seize and a couple of shop towels. I checked fluids too. No three hours required. Bah

I look at it this way. I gave Otto's a chance to do good. I have bought the car there and I was hoping that this would result in a good customer experience and smooth sailing should I have a warranty issue in the future. But they failed the test. And now I am disappointed, I will probably not go back and that is a shame.
A 20k service n 2015 is not exactly rocket science. And I don't think I am asking too much. I know how it is supposed to be done (I have an automotive background) and I really get aggravated when this happens (to me). They have a big sign near the entrance where they specify the price of service; 24K starts at $460, 40K is $550 etc.. and they use a standard amount of time to preform that service. But that is like a self fulfilling prophecy. It takes 2.2 hours to do a service so they will take this amount of time (or even more) to it, even if it is not necessary. And because the customer is waiting a long time, he/she will have the feeling that it is worth the money. I have had 3 bad experiences in a row with official dealers. One time at Toyota and two times with different Subaru dealers. My only options are a universal garage relatively nearby and of course @Slick. I will stick with slick and I advise others to do the same. And you are right @Slick, the misinformation to customers coming from them is shocking. I was waiting for the service to be done and could hear them talking to other customers. One service desk employee was pretty much in a constant state of panic and the other one was walking around as if he owned the place and was my best friend. I spent some time in the showroom too (I had lots of time after all). The sales department was also clueless about their product. It was almost painful to see. Prospects are being told things about the cars that even I know that are untrue (a BS explanation about the 'sporty' CVT transmission in a Crosstrek, the Hyper Blue was too blue (!?) etc...)

Wow. Can't believe they charged you for all the grease and lube...
I changed my vabin air filter this spring at about 25k, and it was DEFINITELY due to be changed. Just did my air filter at 40kish and it wasn't that bad, Definitely due, but I've seen much worse. I still just can't believe they charge you for lube and stuff. The dealership I worked at (not in the city though) charged all that stuff to the service department, aka it's included in the cost of the service. I'm also confused with the amount of different lubes and greases. I'd ask them how much oil was in the front diff too, and why they charged you for a forester service. If anything these cars are more similar to an impreza or wrx
