Recently started controlling the fans in speed steps as shown in the short demo below... I'd happily put this in action for those who have a need such as @ATL BRZ, but doubt it will ever be widespread enough to be in a standard 86Nanny package.

He means the fans on at high speed, not the car speed.

To clarify, I want to be able to kick the fans into high speed mode so they move more air while the car is either parked or doing a cool down lap and coming into the paddock at low speed. Pressing the AC button while the engine is running engages the AC compressor, the blower in the cabin, and runs the radiator fans at low speed which I don't necessarily want. When the engine is off and the AC button is left engaged it only runs the fans at low speed unless its REALLY hot then it will give a short burst of high speed fans then immediately step down to low speed while also running the blower in the cabin (wasted energy). Manual control of ONLY the radiator fans or even a 60-120 second "fan timer" every time the engine is shut off would be awesome. For you Edelbrock SC guys it would ideally tied into an electric water pump timer as well to help get the residual heat out of the intercooler.

It would also be ideal if my tune had a lower minimum temperature threshold for coolant since I'm running a big radiator and low temp thermostat and the car runs cooler overall. That's a good thing since it's primarily a track car but when I do drive it on the highway on occasion it when it's even remotely chilly outside it will throw a CEL for coolant temp below threshold.

I installed my kit two weekends ago, but spent the time between then and now in Costa Rica! My engine was completely stock prior to this, and the install took 13 hours with two guys including an oil change, the clutch bleeding, coolant refill etc. I'm not quite sure how people did it in 7 hours to be honest!

Packaging was great, instructions were great (wish the pictures were bigger), some steps I think could have been completed in different order to save some time.
Install went incredibly well, nothing broke, didn't need to make any modifications to the car except for trimming the end off of one coolant line (which you wouldn't even need to reverse should you want to go back to stock).

My two complaints were: The hose clamps that they provide in the kit are slightly too small for the hoses, we had a lot of difficulty putting them on in some locations. I also really did not like the air box - it took way longer than it should have to install. It will be a pain to change/clean the filter compared to stock - wish they had gone with a snap fit assembly process rather than the screws. If nothing else, just increase the length of the screws so you don't need to compress the plastic parts.

Right now the only issue I am having is sometimes in parking lots, if I put the clutch abruptly the car will hang at 2000rpm for 5 seconds. I don't know what is causing it, will reach out to edelbrock and see if they have any comments for troubleshooting.

The car feels stock, which is interesting for me coming from the turbo world. It sounds different, there is definitely a faint whine in the cabin, and idling sounds different. There is power everywhere now, you can give it gas in 6th gear on the highway and start moving immediately - no lag. Torque dip is gone, thank goodness! It's much easier to break traction on my 245's now. Power delivery is super smooth, which is why it feels like a stock car - but the power improvement is noticeable. I think the lack of turbo spool and kick makes it less of a dramatic improvement, but its definitely a much faster car now.

If anyone has questions let me know, I'll post some pictures soon.

If you are in the bay area and want to check it out, I'll have the car at Cars and Coffee San Francisco on Saturday this weekend!

140 degF sounds like quite a lot of air intake temperature to me

how hot was the ambient?

If you look at the data, ambient peak was 75 F. @CSG Mike how does it compare to the jrsc intake temps?

I'll report on that when I have a chance to get some apples-to-apples comparisons.

Can't really compare data in different conditions at different tracks with different drivers

This was something I questioned... the airbox almost seems unnecessarily large and strangely proportioned. Haven't seen one in person yet but from all the photos it looks like it uses the same upper support space that the factory snorkle uses then opens up to a massive panel filter then chokes back down to a stock throttle body tube. You get this sorta thing going on 'snorkle ><>< tb'.

Maybe someone from @Edelbrock LLC can weigh in. I'm not suggesting changes with the kit but volumetrically (I think that's a word ) speaking... would something like the Perrin BigMAF flow just as well? My guess is the design is to smooth the intake flow as straight as possible after the filter without having the factory style 90o bend. Either that or somewhere to stop turbulence.

Currently I'm running the K&N drop-in panel on the stock box with the HKS snorkel and I'm not sure how much more of a cross section of air you can get through that frame opening.

The problem we had with making the screws longer is the the brass inserts are molded in place when the halves are extruded. If we had provided longer screws it would force the Brass threaded inserts out of the box and it would not tighten down correctly.

As for the size of the box and filter, we wanted to ensure that we had more than enough flow of air needed for the supercharger in carb tune form as well as future customers that want to upgrade pulleys for higher boost without the need to changing their intake system.

There's definitely nothing wrong with the size of the air box, I like the fact that the filter is so large. It was just difficult to get the screws in while holding washers and trying to squeeze the two halves together to get the threads engaged. I had a friend helping so we got it done - it's not a big deal, and you don't need to change the filter very often but I would have preferred a tool-less assembly.

Thanks for the image. My WRB Pearl BRZ is months away from looking like yours. I run a Crawford Performance AOS which mounts at the firewall junction of the OEM strut bars.

Is there any clearance from that point to the back of the intake manifold-compressor assembly?

I'd need about 5.0 inches vertical from the mounting firewall studs and 6.25 inches directly forward. Appreciate any insight you can provide.

Way jelly for you and your power adder. Congratulations!

Excellent pic and feedback/review. What does 0-60 feel like? Time? I'm expecting low 5's to upper 4's. Thoughts?

Thanks man, I'm pretty happy with the car

I can definitely take a picture for you, but I think you will be disappointed - the area behind the supercharger is SUPER cramped. I don't think I will be able to fit a measuring tape in there lol but I'll check after work.
