What is good boost for the FA20 now?
I am really out of the loop with the current FI scene for the twins. How much boost are people running on the stock engine safely now? Also, what is the Automatic transmission rated at boosted?
Thanks, |

I'm personally not going to play with fire. I'm keeping my GTX30 @ 7PSI until my motor build is done.
Others are pushing well over 400rwhp on stock and haven't had a problem.

It really depends still. Btw trannys should be rated in foot pounds of torque not boost haha!

7-10ish is the safe zone. Where you have a 95% chance of being all good maintaining the fact that the car is maintained well and the tuner has any idea on what he's doing. After that you are getting into dyno queen/highway pull kind of power. 250-300kw is the point where if you are racing/tracking/driving hard alot, you will start to have problems frequently. It depends on your tuner for base reliability then driving habits. Basically if you can get the power on a stock fuel system, it's pretty reliable. (which is about 180kw or 220-230 on the higher reading dynos)

I plan to use my car as a daily driver and visit the drag strip a few times a month. I'm thinking a borg warner EFR 7670 from what I hear it's good for 400+ hp. I'm not even going to mess around and I'll put a new clutch in at the sametime. Any thought on this would be great...

You will need a new clutch for sure. For a daily driver I'd say 7-9 psi is safe. Assuming that your tuner is good. More is easily feasible but at that point with the wrong tuner it can go at any time. Yeah that turbo will easily do what you want. Turbo selection is complex and a very experienced tuner on the 86 platform can really help with that.

I'm running a TurboSmart eBoost2, it's separate from the ecutek tune so I can easily adjust on the fly. If you only want a hi and low boost setting that can be done with just a boost solenoid wired into ecutek.

After reading forum posts it seems max 9psi is safe but it depends to tune.
Be careful about remote tuning (boost). |

I bought all Plex's PBC Pros last month. They will have new stock in late January.
