Front Seat Question

For those of you FR-S owners out there, is there a handle or something I missed to have the seats fold forward, and then backward to their original position? I only saw three handles, 1 to adjust the bottom seat position, 2 to adjust the angle of the seat-back, and 3 was a nylon strap for the rear passenger to fold the seat so they can get out.

I tried 2 and 3 and the seat-back never went back to its original position. Did they seriously not include this with a coupe costing over 25k? Am I being too picky?

Do the seats in the FRS and BRZ have the same mechanics to them?

No seat memory:

BRZ and FRS seats are the same in that respect.

Thank you for the link. I think that's crap to be honest and it might have turned me off to the car. It's less daily derivable for me now, since I doubt I can get my big ice hockey bag through the tiny trunk opening, so it would have to go through the front seat. They should have made it a hatch

They made it a coupe also for weight savings. You can't get it through the trunk? Wow, but OK. Maybe just use the passenger side.

I'm buying a smaller bag so it fits in the trunk I can post up what I end up with here so you know

My hockey bag is 40" x 20" x 18", and with all my stuff it doesn't collapse that much. The gear is really bulky. I mean it might still fit, but since these cars are so new the dealers probably aren't going to let me try it in case I scratch the top of the rear bumper and scuff up the trunk liners and such.

It's just one of those things that's added to my disappointment list of the twins. I was hoping the mpg would be better. The auto was where I hoped the manual would be, and I don't care what the marketing says, I won't be able to get four wheels w/tires, and my tools in and out of this car very easily without tearing up the interior, so auto-x would require a trailer.

Maybe I'll get over all of this when I actually drive one, but for now I am less excited than I have been for the past 3 years following this car.

I think it took the Genesis Coupe three model years to add the feature. I'm not aware of any other current coupe with a rear seat that lacks the feature. Kool-aid drinkers won't agree, but it's simply a cost cutting measure that reduces the car's practicality.

Jay I have four wheels and tires in mine right now and haven't damaged the interior. I could add tools and a helmet easily.

I also use a 40" bag but I know I can arrange my gear better. Maybe I'll try again once it stops raining.

I haven't looked at the GenCoupe yet but it is on my list, even though it's bigger than I "think" I want. Can't say yes or no until I sit in it and drive it, but I do prefer smaller cars. I won't be buying until at least spring 2013 so I have time. I didn't want to hassle the dealer for a test drive when I wouldn't be buying the car, so I'll wait to drive next spring or later this year if the hype simmers down.

Dave, I don't doubt that the stuff can fit. How are you arranging the wheels in the back? I haven't taken very good care of my vehicles cosmetically in the past and I want to start with my next one, that's why I am concerned about the egress space. I'm not sure I would auto-x it regularly, since I am building a car right now that I could use in SM-F, so that might be a moot point.

I'm just checking, so please don't be offended if this isn't the case, but... you do know the rear seats lay down flat, right? Allowing things to pass through from the trunk?

This car wouldn't even be on my list of the rear seats didn't fold flat. I'm more referring to the trunk opening itself as it isn't very big. The seats would have to be down regardless because of the hockey sticks. The bag can fit in the trunk, it's just getting it into the trunk that I'm concerned about.

And yes I could move the passenger seat forward, tilt the seat-back forward, stuff the bag on top of the folded rear seats, then put the passenger seat back into position, then do the whole thing over again when I get to the rink .... but see what I'm getting at? Those are hassles I don't want to have.

All of the hassles might be worth it if the car knocks my socks off "fun" wise, and with a $hit eating grin I wouldn't give two craps about seat hassles, but I have to wait until I can drive one before I can make that judgement.

OK I know the bag doesn't look like it fits in these pics, but it does I didn't feel like removing all the tires to get it all the way through. With a massive bag like mine which is VERY wide and 40" long you will have to put the rear seat down.

Picture of how three wheels are sitting in the car, technically I had the third wheel centered on the two but I moved it to show the bag was just being blocked by the tires/wheels and nothing else. The 4th wheel/tire I put in the trunk. I could not use the documented method because there's not way two 235/40s on 17x8s will find one on top of the other like the OEM 17x7/215/45s.

Bag is loaded like this:

Basically elbow pads in the should pads, shin guards in the pants, skates in side skate pocket, helmet in helmet pocket on one end, underclothes/jerseys on the other end.
