Have a few questions?
How much header wrap is need to wrap the header? 15' or 25'
If I wrap the op would I have any clearance issues?

Thanks

Here are some photos of clearances. Header wrap shouldn't cause any issues...even if there is contact the wrap should keep it muffled.

Off the top of my head, I would guess with 1" you need about 50'. 2" would be around 25-30'.

Here's a quick Jegs search for wrap

What will be the heat difference between wrap and unwrap header in the engine bay and oil temp?

Hi people, Does anyone know the torque spec for the 3 12mm bolts connecting the header to overpipe ? I find it impossible to use my torque wrench to tightened it.

Cheers

For the 8mm studs (with 12mm nuts) start with 18Nm or 13.2ft/lbs. It would be very hard to over tighten with a 1/4" drive ratchet. For a rough estimate use the 1/4" and snug it up.

After a few days of run in time, it's always good to go back and double check as the gaskets can often compress.

Thanks for the reminder ACE-Header!

An old trick taught to me during my impressionable years was the technique of wrench arc . . . Useful for low torgue specs, particularly in tight spaces.

Snug until nut resists further tightening, then add a steady 15 degrees of wrench arc.

Additionally owning a set of metric articulating, ratcheting closed-end and fixed-open end wrenches will bring sweetness to your header install. Mine are from Craftsmen on sale about $85, and this is Black November. Just saying.

Good luck.

Finally installed my 4-2-1 with 150 op. Fitment was good but it rub the skid plate when I test drive it today. Other than that everything is all good. I can feel more pull at lower rpm and the best part is its not too loud and no drone (Tanabe concept G catback and oem front pipe). Very happy with the result but not sure what to do with skid plate clearance. Anyone expirience the same thing? Maybe I can make some holes in those areas.

Hi Kuno,

We're not sure why some skid plates make contact and others do not.

To solve this issue you remove the skid plate and using a block of wood and a hammer, flatten the raised structures on the plate. All instances we've had were a few mm of contact with those ribs.

If you still have issues just let us know.

So for those of you who have followed my noise issues, I finally put the stock cat back on. The car is very, very quiet. I have the catted resonated JDL ultra quiet front pipe, and it doesn't sound too bad. It definitely was my Corsa cat back that was the issue. I cannot wait until the Ace quiet cat back comes out, or I may look into the Invidia q300 if that doesn't ever happen. I am so enjoying driving my car again. The noise was so great that I couldn't ever drive it hard as the volume just drew so much attention. Anyway, I am glad that quiet is possible. That factory cat back is butt ugly from the rear now. Come on Counterspace garage and Ace, get that quiet exhaust together. BTW, anybody want to buy a Corsa cat back?

Anyone running the header with Perrin and aftermarket cat back?

I have an aftermarket FP with high flow cat. I also have Perrin 2.5. Wondering what the noise level will be with header and Perrin catback.

Also, would a JDL ultra quiet lower the volume enough if I switched it out?

So do you think the Type B 250, stock exhaust but with a muffler delete will bleed my ears?

*) catless header
*) muffler delete.
It certainly WILL be loud. If it's TOO loud or not is too subjective thing, each has personal limits of what is acceptable and what will 'bleed his ears'.

I currently have a catless UEL header with the muffler delete and it is okay, just a little drone.
