Maybe I'm Old Greg, but when did "fitment" become the de facto word to describe how wheels fit?

Fitment is furniture. If you're looking for a noun that means how well something fits, that word is fit.

I never was a fan of stance culture. Still not a fan. I have friends who are part of that group though and I have respect for their builds and what they do, even if their cars don't appeal to me in the slightest.

Also, I don't hear the word "hellaflush" being used as much as it was several years ago. I wonder if that would got played out or if people actually learned what that term actually meant now.

Reminded me of the most beautiful car model name ever:

Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner

That's how cars should be named. All that 3-digits and 3-letter abbreviations is just boring.

Has anyone driven one of the Toyota XRS cars from 2003-2006?

For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, I'm referring to both the Corolla and Matrix XRS as well as the Pontiac Vibe GT, all of which (except for certain Matrix models AFAIK) were equipped with the 2ZZ-GE and C60 6-speed transmission from the Celica GTS.

I'm not looking for one of them right now; I'm curious to know someone's experiences with one.

I could start a new thread topic on it, but I don't want to.

It would be hilarious to slap on a GT-R badge on that.

I test drove a Matrix XRS when those cars first came out. I remember it being pretty fun, albeit the same complaints I had about the Celica GTS still apply to the Matrix XRS. Even though the 2nd gen Matrix is less sporty, the 2AZ-FE is probably more suited for daily duty, even if it's not a particularly interesting motor. I may be a little biased; I have a 2AZ-FE Rav4, and previously owned an xB2 and a tC1.

From my understanding, the 2ZZ would consume more gas than the 2AZ despite it being 0.6 liters smaller. By how much would you say though?

And what specifically were your complaints with the XRS?

Lack of torque, and the "fun" powerband was pretty small. With the gearing being what it is, at WOT, even if you're shifting at redline, you'll be outside of the lift area in the next gear.

When you're not hammering it, it basically feels like a 1ZZ car.

2AZ motors don't sound good, but they have low-end torque and they're willing to rev. The only thing to watch out for is that higher mileage 2AZ-FEs will drink oil. My xB2 would drink about a quart of oil every 3000 miles at the 50K point, which was considered within normal limits by Toyota. The RAV4 doesn't, but I don't drive the RAV4 hard. I think Toyota considers anything more than 1 qt per 1200 miles to be abnormal, so they expect them to be oil-thirsty.

Real world gas mileage is hard to compare. I probably averaged around 24-28 MPG in mixed driving with the 2AZ-FE cars. 100% highway mileage easily exceeded 30 MPG.

Interesting take on the 2ZZ. If I ever acquire an XRS it will be just for daily use. Even if the fun factor is small, it's still better than driving any other Corolla. I love the idea of a small sleeper and the XRS fits that perfectly. I'd even take a Corolla XRS over a Celica GTS for that reason and because I am not much of a fan of the Celica's looks.

I'm personally not a fan of the 2AZ motor, but I heard that they are stout motors for what they are.
